The hardest thing to model:

� Continued urbanization and development

� Human response to storms

What can we do?

� Monitor beaches and their dynamics

� Utilize local knowledge and communities to create an

understanding of shared values

� Ensure policies are in place to promote the preservation

of resources

Keeping the Stoke

� There will be waves in the future

� In our lifetimes, however, we need to take actions to

preserve access to and quality of ocean resources
