Welcome back to Term 3! It was lovely to see all of our Carool students back
at school last week. And what a week it was! Both the athletics field and track
carnivals were held, and the Fun with Math excursion took place. Certainly, a
great way to start the term.
Hayley at State Cross Country
Congratulations Hayley on representing Carool PS and the North Coast at the
State Cross Country competition last Friday in Sydney. Hayley competed
against 80 other competitors and pushed hard in a very fast race to reach 49th
place. Incredible effort Hayley! All that hard work has paid off. Well done.
Your school is very proud of you.
Athletics Carnivals
Last week our small school headed to the half day field events and the full day
track athletics carnivals. Our students represented our school with great pride,
determined attitudes and a great fun spirit.
Well done to the following students who placed in their events.
Eliza for 1st place in shot put, 2nd place in high jump, 2nd place in 100
metres
Katelyn 3rd place 100 metres
Our Division 3 relay team (Jess, Katelyn, Eliza and Emma) came 1st!
Congratulations to the following students who have qualified for the district
level competition to be held at Murwillumbah High on Friday 9 August:

Education Week
Next week NSW Public Schools will be celebrating Education Week. We have a number of exciting events that we
will be participating in at Carool to celebrate this event. Please see the flyer attached to the newsletter.
Cooking at school - We need you!
On the last Thursday of Term 2, K-6 students and Mrs Eadsforth used some of our lemonade fruit to make
lemonade syrup and pancakes. It was yummy! It was obvious how much the students enjoyed working in the
kitchen and Carool has such wonderful kitchen facilities. The school would like to make cooking a regular activity at
Carool and we are looking for a parent volunteer (or 2!) that would like to work with Mrs Eadsforth to provide
cooking in the kitchen experiences for all student K-6 once or twice a term. If you are interested, have a bit of a
knack in the kitchen and would like to work with Mrs Eadsforth, please contact the school.
Staff Update
As you are aware Mr Hartmann is leaving Carool to take up a full-time teaching contract at Crystal Creek PS. This is
now happening in week 5 this term. Mr Hartmann’s last day will be Tuesday 20th August. We are very fortunate that
Mr Russell has agreed to extend his days at Carool to 4 days a week. This means we will now keep the K-2 and 3-6
classes separate four days a week instead of three. A more detailed explanation of the new staff timetable will be
available closer to week 6 when this new timetable will commence.
Public Speaking
Carool will once again participate in the Far North Coast Public Speaking Awards.
The Finals day will be held at Tweed Heads South on Thursday 19th September.
Carool will be holding our school competition in week 7. Please carefully read the
attached flyer about our public speaking competition this year.
Playground Award Winner
Congratulations to Eli who is the recipient of this week’s playground award for his
excellent behaviour in the playground. Well done Eli!
Mrs Eadsforth
Relieving Principal
Welcome back everyone! I hope you had a wonderful break and it’s great to see the student’s refreshed for another
term. We have a busy and exciting time coming up.
Last week the K-2 student’s attended our athletics carnival and represented our school proudly. They all tried their
very best in their respective races and enjoyed themselves during the tabloid events.
This term in geography, the students will take charge of their own learning and decide on a place in Australia they
would like to visit most. They will then create a pamphlet outlining all the information they need to get there and
why they want to go there. This includes modes of transport, location on a map, the cheapest way to get there, who
it is most popular with and why we should look after the place.
In PDHPE this term, we will be looking at what it means to be unique and why we must respect each other’s
similarities and differences. This is an extremely important concept for our group of students to understand and will
allow them to gauge and respect their own and others wellbeing.

Grill’d Local Matters
We’ve been selected to participate in
Local Matters at Grill’d Coolangatta this
August!
Local Matters is the Grill’d community
donation program that sees each Grill’d restaurant donate $500 back into the community every month. The
donation is split between 3 local community groups $300 / $100 / $100.
HOW YOU CAN HELP?
We’d love your support in receiving the highest $300 donation! Simply head to Grill’d Coolangatta during August
for a burger and pop your Local Matters token in our jar. The group with the most tokens at the end of the month
receives the largest donation.
It’s a simple (and delicious) way to show your support!
You’ll find us on a jar at Grill’d Coolangatta, The Strand 72-80 Marine Pde
FUN WITH MATHS DAY
Students enjoyed the hands-on maths activities at the Fun with Maths day held at Condong Public School on Friday
26 July. The aim of this day was to challenge the students to work together, problem solve and think about things
from different perspectives. The students enjoyed working with other schools, building new friendships and exploring
the interactive learning experiences.
