Research Project: The Flying Mice
I believe higher minds create ‘great Ideas’. If you are wondering who am I ?
Well, I am Abdul Samad from CSE II, no different from you but with a ‘new
Idea’ in my brain. An idea which is quite simple but which can make a great
difference to the world of computers today. I am basically an Idealistic
and my passion to the computer world added up to this idea. So let me
introduce to you my new principle of interaction with the computer which
I named it as "THE FLYING MICE”
So what is it actually? Technically it is a device that would improve the
user interface with the computer with 3 dimensional surface to work on.
It is a better replacement of the mouse. What I feel is that the mouse has
limitations with the way it can be moved. So I thought why not create a
device which can move freely in any direction without any limitations by
using sense motion technology. This device need not be placed on any
surface but can be picked up in the air and moved like a wand to control
the cursor on the screen.
My friend Manazir from CSE II is also interested in this idea. Now we both
have set ourselves on a journey to turn our idea into an invention. We
know the destination but we need to build up the path. I am grateful to
our Principal Prof. S. Mahboob Basha for encouraging us and providing
all the necessary aids under student R & D for this project and
Mr. Anwar, Assistant Professor, Dept. of ECE for being our research
mentor.

Green club conducted a Workshop on ‘Reduce, Reuse and Recycle’
Green club is the students’ club which aims at protecting
the environment through awareness programmes and thactivities. On 20 Oct, 2012, members of this club have
organized a workshop on ‘Reduce, Reuse and Recycle’.
Ms. Romana Sayeed, Lab Assistant, ELCS was the
Coordinator of this workshop. Students made a variety of
models and demonstrated excellently how one can
create beautiful and functional things from the materials
which are considered to be waste. Students also
displayed posters on various themes on environment
protection especially on reducing and recycling of
plastics.
Magazine organizers, dustbins etc., were made from
cartons, pen holders and baskets were made from old
magazines and newspapers, wall clock was designed
from old cds, used plastic bottles were transformed into
flower vases, beautiful flowers etc. Faculty has also
participated in this workshop. The newspaper basket
made by Ms. Shabana was highly appreciated. The
creations were put on sale and the amount collected was
donated for community service fund in the college.
Ramadan Charity Dish
‘Spiritual Club’ and ’Al-Habeeb Welfare Club’
together came up with an idea of holding a ‘Charity Dish’
event in the college, a cogitation of collecting money for
charity by making a special dish and selling to others
during Ramadan month. The event was very successful
as faculty and students actively participated and made
delicious dishes which were sold on the spot and enjoyed
by one and all. Apart from this, many people voluntarily
donated money for the noble cause.
Amassing over ` 11,000, the donations were used for
helping the local poor fellowmen during the holy month
of Ramadan. An ‘Iftar Meal Programme’ was held for
poor and physically handicapped people at Vattapally
village. During the occasion of Eid, the club members
also distributed blankets and new clothes to less
privileged. The distribution activity was collaborated
with Students of Islamic Organization (SIO). The club
members traveled to different locations to identify the
needy and provided the material. They enjoyed the
experience of donating and sharing which taught them
to spread humanity and love, to mark the holy month
‘Ramadan’ very special.

Industrial Interactions: CGC Career Day
A team of experts and volunteers of ‘Career Guidance thCouncil’ visited our campus on 13 Oct, 2012 to interact and
guide our students in their pursuit of a bright career ahead.
Members who present were from Oracle, Deliotte, Bank of
America, etc. Career Guidance Council is a non-profit
organization which works for the upliftment of the society
and consists of a team with members from various
multinational companies, corporate, educational institutes
etc. They regularly conduct different activities in colleges and
schools to motivate the student community.
They demonstrated and presented different industrial
requirements to the students. Seminars on topics like
drafting effective resume, how to face interviews, higher
education opportunities in India and abroad, building
leadership skills, personality development etc. were
highlighted. They also conducted a workshop on ‘Mock
Interview’. Students actively participated and interacted
with the team of experts.
The college has taken an initiative to promote education for less privileged. In this
regard, the team of NSS distributed free notebooks and stationary to the children of thGovernment schools in nearby villages like Rammanagudda and Damerigidda on 11
thand 21 September, 2012. NSS officer Mr. Naganjeneyulu came up with a great idea to
raise fund from the contribution of monthly amount from the faculty to help poor
children by supplying basic requirements in the form of books, clothes, food, etc.
Teaching fraternity has participated actively in this programme but the most
enthusiastic were Mr. Venkateshwar Rao, Mr. Krishna, Mr. Srinivas and Mr. Rambabu.
thApart from these, planting of trees were also taken up on 13 September 2012 in the
Damerigidda village. Nearly 150 saplings were planted in one day by the NSS volunteers.
thOn the occasion of “Engineer’s Day’ i.e., 15 Sept, 2012 NSS has conducted an essay
writing competition on the topic ‘Vision of India’. Many students actively participated in
the contest.
