The Center of Reliable seismic
Introduction
SMNG-Center, a leading provider of marine geophysical services
in Russia, headquartered in Moscow, was founded in 1996.
The company specializes in the following areas of expertise:
- 2D and 3D seismic data acquisition in deep, shallow water and
transition zones using state-of-the-art Sercel OBC equipment.
SMNG-Center utilizes newest seismic and positioning equipment,
employs highly qualied professionals, which ensures the highest
quality of the collected data meeting the most stringent industry
standards.
- 2D/3D Seismic Data Processing
For seismic data processing, SMNG-Center uses software solutions
developed by such leading providers as Landmark,
Tsunami Development, Paradigm Geophysical.
- 2D/3D Seismic Data Interpretation
Landmark and Hampson-Russell software is used
for seismic data interpretation.
Seismic Instruments
SMNG-Center is pleased to oer to
the clients the most advanced seismic
solutions in the industry.
The company operates the following
seismic tools and equipment:
- Sucient number of eld electronic equipment (LCI, LAUL, LAUX, Trep, etc.)
- Sercel 428XL software license
- Sercel SQCpro software license
- 2,800+ Sercel 428XL channels
- 1000+ Sercel 408 ULS channels
Based on this same highly ecient design as 408UL, the 428XL requires less power, lasts longer, and is more reliable than any of its competitors on the market today. The 428XL oers all new hardware and software which is specically designed to meet the needs of large channel count operations while improving conventional operations. It is also compatible with the 408ULS and 408UL eld equipment. (refer to www.sercel.com)
OS Unix Server Windows Client
10 000 channels@2ms real time
- High rate on lines (16 Mbps) and Transvers (100 Mbps)
- Improved capabilities (up to 100,000 traces real time @2 ms)
- Client server architecture
Navigation Equipment
INS Gator by Concept Systems
Ltd. is used for positioning.
The central data management and advanced positioning functionality
have made Gator the leading navigation and seismic control system in
the market today. (please refer to http://www.iongeo.com/ )
Receivers on the seabed are
positioned with Sonardyne
TZ/OBC equipment. (please refer to http://sonardyne.co.uk/)
This equipment is also
integrated into the INS Gator,
which allows to quickly locate
accurate positions of the
receivers after they have been
deployed on the seabed and
pinged. pinged.
Where possible, both
Sonardyne and INS Gator are
capable of adjusting the
positions using !rst break
arrivals.
Gator is designed to meet the
unique challenges of
distributed, multi-vessel
seabed operations, such as
ocean-bottom cable (OBC)
and transition zone
Operation in Shallow water and Transition zoneSeismic data acquisition in extremely
shallow waters and transition zone
is the most complicated operation
since it involves a lot of personnel,
equipment and vehicles. These
operations are often performed
in very harsh and remote
environments.
Receivers in transition zones are
deployed using special-purpose
all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), boats,
or even by hand.
Purpose-designed catamarans
carrying necessary equipment
and high-accuracy positioning
systems are used to deploy
receiver lines in waters
depths up to 50 m.
ATV "Rosa" running on
low-pressure tires shows excellent
performance on marshes and
lakes. Its Diesel engine ensures
smooth motion in any operating
mode.
Seismic Source Vessels
This ship was fully
repaired in 2009 in
Bremerhaven
(Germany).
The ship was repaired at the same shipyard where she was built in 1983.
During the repairs, new seismic equipment was installed (compressor,
airguns, source controller).
GEO-12 module-design
vessel was speci!cally
built for operations in
extremely shallow waters.
Her fully-loaded draft is
just 0.6 m.
The ship carries a HP compressor and an AC generator. She is capable of
towing two air gun sub-arrays totalling 440 cu. in. at a speed of 5 knots,
which results in a fast acquisition of seismic lines in extremely shallow
waters, such as transition zones, lakes and rivers.
Source vessel "Skat" is
utilized for seismic
acquisition in water
depths of 2.5 m and
deeper.

Seismic Data Processing and Interpretation
A powerful IBM 112-processor cluster
supports all stages of 2D and 3D seismic
data processing.
There are 17 highly professional geophysicists in the processing center
involved in the processing and interpretation of 2D/3D seismic data.
SMNG-Center o!ers a full range of processing
and interpretation procedures.
A huge experience in processing
shallow water and TZ data was gained
in applying the following procedures:
1. Noise attenuation over 3D cross
spread using 3D FKxKy
2. Longway static correction
3. Residual static calculation
The application of 3D
interpretation, 3D visualization,
and seismic inversion provides
more detailed images of
potential reservoirs and allows
to predict their petrophysical
properties.
