A MESSAGE FROM OUR PASTOR
Dear Holy Apostles Parish Family,
This weekend we celebrate Palm Sunday and
enter into Holy Week. This Lent, we have been
focusing on “Being Followers of Christ.” We
have followed a series in homilies and online,
to reflect on the message each week and then
respond as followers of
Christ. Thanks to those
who have responded
and helped create a
visual word collage
graphic to help all of us
think and look inside of
ourselves.
This week the Church
puts on its own series
called Holy Week. I invite
you to join us to cele-
brate on Holy Thursday,
the Lord’s Supper, which
brings us together in the
Eucharist and calls us to
serve with a servant’s heart by washing
another’s feet. On Good Friday we embrace
and share the cross as we have embraced the
struggle, confronted, forgave and listened
during the past weeks. Holy Saturday we
welcome our new Catholics to the faith and
celebrate the Word and the Light. On Easter
Sunday we welcome all who come to join us. It
is the ultimate moment to invite people to join
us and be a follower of Christ.
It is the week that defines our faith. I hope you
get a chance to soak it in.
Have a blessed week! Father Paul

SVdPS Helps Needy in Your Community A well-stocked pantry and refrigerator is something
many of us take for granted. But for others, there is
rarely enough food to last the week, no matter how
carefully each purchase and each meal is planned.
For those struggling to feed
their families, the St. Vincent
de Paul Society is there to
help. Vincentians provide
bags of food and a gift
certificate to either Aldi's or
Angelo's on each visit to a
neighbor in need. These food deliveries and compas-
sionate prayer, help lift families, feeding their spirits
and their stomachs in their time of need. Won't you
consider a donation to SVdPS to help our area's
needy? "Whoever has a bountiful eye will be blessed,
for he shares his bread with the poor." Proverbs 22:9

enth meeting will be Melissa Wick, an Elder Law and
Estate Planning attorney. She is a Member of the
Illinois State and the McHenry County Bar Associations;
and the founding member of Elder Law and Estate
Planning PC, with offices throughout McHenry and
Lake Counties. Melissa will discuss the “Complex
World of Elder Law with a focus on Dementia and
Protecting Family Assets.” Caregivers, loved ones and
family members are encouraged to attend, offer
comments and ask questions. The meeting will be

Apostles Bay.
Increase His Divine Life Within You Each moment that you spend in Jesus’ Eucharistic
Presence will increase His Divine life within you and
deepen your personal relationship with Him. Take
some time each week to visit Jesus in the Divine Eucha-
rist at the All Saints Perpetual Adoration Chapel. Pray,
listen, and feel the peace that He gives
us so lovingly. Break from your busy
life to acknowledge His comforting
love. Listed below are the hours where
there is no permanent adorer. Please
pray about committing to being a per-
manent adorer, either by yourself, with
a prayer partner or even a group to rotate weeks.
Many scheduled adorers are members of one of the
other churches in the McHenry Deanery—you do not
have to be a member of Holy Apostles to be a sched-
uled adorer. Contact Mike Thielsen to commit to a
time at 815-385-8562 or mthielsen@live.com.
Donations for flowers to beautify
our church for the Easter season are
greatly appreciated. You can make your

anunciado (9,9): “He aquí que viene a ti tu rey: justo él y
gente, muy numerosa, extendió sus mantos por el camino;

2. Aproximadamente 1 1/2 pulgadas de la tapa,
pliegue el extremo largo en la diag-
onal a la derecha, haciendo un
ángulo recto.
3. Envuelva el extremo largo al-
rededor del montante 2 1/2 veces-
esto es importante.
4. Déle la vuelta.
5. Haga un brazo de aproximad-
amente 1 1/2 a 2 pulgadas, do-
blando el extremo largo hacia usted.
6. Haga el segundo brazo, doblan-
do a la izquierda.
go apunte hacia arriba.
bucles centrales.
9. Enrolle el extremo posterior una segunda vez
detrás de los bucles centrales. Tire fuerte para
asegurar la cruz. La pieza superior se puede ajustar
tirando de la base.

Make a Palm Cross for Palm Sunday Many people make beautiful crosses from the palms we
receive on Palm Sunday. Here’s just one way to make a
simple cross.
Most palm fronds are actually double; split the frond into two
long separate strips. Remove any string
bits.
1. Hold palm pointing up. About 5 to 6
inches from the bottom, fold top over
keeping the long part toward you.
2. About 1 1/2 inches from the top, fold
long end on the diagonal to the right,
making a right angle.
3. Wrap the long end around the upright
2 1/2 times—this is important.
4. Flip it over.
5. Make an arm about 1 1/2 to 2 inches,
folding the long end toward you.
6. Make second arm, folding on the left.
7. Make a diagonal fold so the long end points up.
8. Slip the point of the long end behind the center loops.
9. Loop th elong end a second time behind the center loops.
Pull taut to secure the cross. The top piece may be adjusted
by pulling on the base.
