St Cecilia is not only the patron saint of our school, but also the patron saint of musicians and the blind.

There are many schools and churches named after her, but did you know …

… there is a rose named in her honour

… there are apples named after her

…there’s a boat named St Cecilia!

Many artists have painted her picture.

Here are just a few!

This painting is my favourite. You’ll see why a little later, so study it carefully.

In England they celebrate St Ceciliatide with a musical festival. Here’s one of the concerts.

St Cecilia was often shown with angels and lilies.

There are songs , poems and prayers in her honour too. She is very popular.

There is a shrine built in her honour.

They even have a St

Cecilia doll.

Did you notice all the different instruments she is shown playing?

St Cecilia has been a favourite saint for many years and in many ways.

But this next picture shows why she’s so special for me.
