““Teaching the Flat-Curl Concept Teaching the Flat-Curl Concept

and Its Variations”and Its Variations”

The Flat-Curl Concept

• Allows our offense to horizontally attack the defense.

• Attack specific parts of the field: – Outside of the Hash– Numbers– Box Route in the middle of the field

• Low level controlled routes. • Allows QB quick and decisive reads. • Good versus most coverage types:

– Man-to-man– Zone

Flat-Curl

Theory Of Concept

This concept is used to stretch a flat defender to the sideline and replace him with a receiver behind him. At the same time we will control the middle of the field with a short route. These routes make a triangle of receivers for the QB to read.

Where We Are Attacking

We are attacking an area 12 yards down the field on the hash. We are also attacking the area 5 yards deep on the numbers. Lastly we are controlling the middle of the field at 5 yards.

Good vs. What Coverage

This route is best vs. a team that is playing Cover 3 or ¼s (4 deep) concept. It has some good answers to cover 2 as well.

Reverse Flat-Curl ConceptFresno – Bulldog – Mac

• The Mac call tags both sides with route adjustment. In this case the receivers exchange landmarks.

• X and Z will push vertical hard to run a read drag route, reading the LB over the wing.

• W and Y will run the wrap around route selling the vertical and settling in the window behind the backer. Field side wing can widen his split to help the window open wider.

• R Will run the box route

Packaging the Flat-Curl Concept

• Will allow you a Cover 3 beater to the field side

• Cover 2 beater to the boundary side

• Fresno is our front side adjustment

• Bulldog is the backside adjustment

Trips Weak

• RB and W or Y switch landmark responsibilities in Trips Weak

• Two Man Scat concept allows for weak side triangle read – Great vs. rolling coverage's towards your trips.

• Can create a mesh with Raw or Ray tags. Must practice timing for RB, to wait for the shallow cross to clear.
