Gawain realizes the true courage he gained for bravely facing the Green Knight and following up on the promise he made.

The Character's Transformation

Gawain transforms from a young, inexperienced, and

coward boy, to a loyal knight who no longer hides from his fears.

The AtonementGawain is pleased with his actions and accepts and believes what the Green Knight is telling him of.
