Provox Micron HME
Description
Atos Medical introduced the Provox HME cassette in 1995 to help reducepulmonary symptoms in laryngectomees. The Provox Micron HME is thenext step in the development.
The Provox Micron HME is an HME that gives laryngectomees enhancedprotection against airborne microbes. We combine the original ProvoxHME with a highly efficient electrostatic filter media - a new era for HMEs!
Benefits:
An electrostatic filter material helps to reduce the transfer of viruses andbacteria. This is especially important since laryngectomees often have acompromised immune system.Provides the same HME capabilities as the original HME cassette.Fits all the attachment devices in the Provox System.
Provox XtraHME
Description
After a total laryngectomy, you breathe through a stoma which means thatcold, dry air is inhaled directly into the lungs. This often results inundesirable side effects such as increased coughing and mucusproduction, sleeplessness and other social implications.
An HME (heat- and moisture exchanger) acts as an artificial nose andregains some of the lost respiratory functions of the nose. The ProvoxXtraHME heats and moisturizes inhaled air, since the specially treatedfoam inside the HME cassette traps heat and moisture during exhalation.
The Provox XtraHME is available in two versions:
XtraMoist HME
has capacities close to normal nasal function. The humidification isimproved and the XtraMoist is still keeping the good airflow for easybreathing. XtraMoist is recommended for patients who have recentlyundergone a total laryngectomy, and for accustomed users.
XtraFlow HME
is focusing on having superior airflow. XtraFlow is great to use whenexercising and when adapting to the breathing resistance after havingbeen without an HME for a longer time.

Provox FreeHands HME
Description
The Provox Freehands HME combines an HME with an easy- to-operateautomatic tracheostoma valve that lets you speak without having tomanually close the stoma. It has an automatic, reusable Multi-Magnet andMulti-Valve System that helps keep the speech valve closed while you arespeaking. Whenever you cough, the cough-relief valve opens and closesautomatically.
An HME is most effective when worn day and night. It usually takes someweeks until the pulmonary symptoms improve. During the first weeks ofuse, the patient may experience increased mucus production.
Provox HME System
Description
A heat and moisture exchanger works as an artificial nose – it helps toheat and moisturize inhaled air. It retains humidity in the airways thatwould otherwise be lost by breathing through an open tracheostoma. As aresult many users experience fewer problems with coughing and mucusproduction. This improves sleep – and the quality of life.
The Provox HME cassette
The HME cassettes are the core of Atos Medical’s product line forpulmonary rehabilitation and are intended to be placed in front of thetracheostoma.
The Provox HME Cassette facilitates manual stoma occlusion with thehelp of a simple lid/spring-valve mechanism, thereby improving speech aswell as hygiene. It is designed with side openings, which means that:
