STUDENT GUIDE TO VIDEO CONFERENCING SOFTWARE

PREPARATION

• Students need computing devices like laptops or handphones.

• For this exercise, students need to download the Zoom Apps onto their handphones using Wifi.

• Students can sign in using Google Gaps account.

• App Store or Google Play Store : ZOOM Cloud Meeting

JOIN A MEETING

TO JOIN A MEETING

• You will receive a URL link from your teacher via Class Whatsapp or via SLS announcement.

• Click on the link to join the meeting.

• The app will auto launch and you will join the meeting automatically

ADD YOUR NAME

• You will be asked to type your name.

• Include your register number before your name.

MUTE YOUR AUDIO AND DISABLE THE VIDEO

• Mute the Audio at bottom left corner of screen.

• Disable the Video.

• Wait for instructions from your teachers.

ALLOW NOTIFICATIONS AND USE OF VIDEO/MICROPHONE AND

RAISE QUESTIONS

• You can ask questions using the chat feature.

• Do not use it for private, non-work related chatting.

LEAVE THE VIDEO CONFERENCE

• At the end of the lesson, click the ‘Leave’ button

at the top right hand corner.

Important

• Do not simply close the app, you need to Leave the meeting. Otherwise, the app will continue to run in the background and everyone can see and hear what you doing.

COMMUNICATION PROTOCOL

VIDEO CONFERENCING – COMMUNICATION PROTOCOL1. All students need to mute the audio sound and disable “Start Video”

immediately when joining the group.

2. When using chat feature, please DO NOT chat

unnecessarily. Use it to ask meaningful questions.

STUDENTS – SETTING AND ATTIRE• Choose an appropriate venue to start your video conference, eg. Living Room

or Study Room. Do not use bedroom, kitchen, toilet or noisy environment for your conference.

• Please be appropriately attired. Do not start a video conference in pyjamas or inappropriate clothing, E.g tank tops or T-shirts with explicit wordings and graphics.

• Ensure proper grooming. Make sure you are neat and tidy.

• Pay attention to your background. Make sure that your camera/webcam is not facing the toilet.
