BRIEF TITLE:

IMAGE. Type as image.

The Brief

Select three quotes carefully from the givenarticles (each quote must come from a differentarticle) and visually communicate them usingonly the text in which they are written. Noadditional images are permitted,

Considerations

THINK VISUALLY. Consider what the visualessence of your subject matter is (the quote)and how bpst to communicate this. What arethe obvious responses? How can you movebeyond these?

Will the quote exist in the environment, onsomeone's hand or a wall? ls it handcrafted ordigital?

ls colour important? Will you work with just onetypeface or will you use a range? Do typefaceshave to be hybrid?

Background

The context of a quote depends upon who said it,

whom it was said to (even if there was on onethere), the environment in which is said and thetone in which it was spoken. "Words" do not existout of context.

Working with type as image allows you to conveymore than simply words the have been written.

The quote exists in the context of the article so howcan this give you visual clues as to how the textfrom the quote may work as image?

Mandatory Requirements

All images should be supported by a broad range ofvisual investigation in the form of design sheets andnotebooks.

The final image should be presented on an A1portrait format.

Practica! Considerations

There are no media restrictions. You can workphotographically, across three dimensions, collage, incorporate print making methods orcombine all of these processes.

You can work directly onto A1 or carefullyattach your type. You must be able to recordany three-dimensionalwork in a two-dimensional form.

Alltype must be based on an existing typeface.

Deliverables

Three visually resolved quotes submitted onA1.
