Introduction The course is designed for ambitious students,

who are interested in the business world. The program is the mix of informative theory

and practical classes. The course contributes to critical thinking skills,

develops interpersonal communication abilities, teaches vital skills for team work, provides abilities to analyse business data.

Studying Opportunities In your first and second year a wide

range of business disciplines is provided. In the final year there is the opportunity

to focus module choices on a specific subject area.

Throughout the degree, students will choose Horizon Electives.

Year 1 - Engage with the Principles of Business

In first year students learn about the foundations of business, how businesses work and their relationship with society.

First year modules unique to the UCD BComm include running a virtual business in ‘Business Live’ and taking control of your progress in ‘Effective Learning and Development’.

Year 1

Year 2 - Deepen the Understanding

In second year students will deepen their understanding of the business environment and its functions, begin to choose business options to personalise their UCD BComm pathway.

Year 2

There is the opportunity to study abroad with our Exchange Programme, and to apply for an Internship with one of our national or

international business partners.

Internship

Each year top performing students are accepted onto our Internship Programme -

a credited nine to twelve month paid internship in one of a range of Irish and

multinational companies.

Final Year - Refine your Knowledge

In final year students integrate their UCD BComm experience, with capstone modules in business strategy, entrepreneurship, management and personal development.

As well as continue to personalise their BComm pathway according to their interests and career goals through a large choice of module options.

Final Year

Horizon Modules: Each academic year throughout the course students have the

opportunity to select modules from across the University curriculum or from subjects within the School. You pick these to complement

your studies and/or form a particular area of interest such as languages, sports management, psychology and human nutrition

Future Career BComm at UCD will provide students with the

tools and techniques to succeed in a dynamic business environment.

Communication, negotiation, teamwork and time management skills are just some of the competencies gained from our course, which are hugely valuable among employers.
