• Aguaseo plan to develop a Materials Recovery Facility in Colon City to segregate materials for recycling and reduce the quantity of waste sent to landfill.

• Our support was split into two phases:

– Phase 1: Waste characterisation study to assess the quantity and quality of waste produced in Colon to assess its suitability for recycling

– Phase 2: Using the waste characterisation for Colon, review options for Material Recovery Facility design, and develop a high level business case and roadmap to facility development.

• Results will be used to inform waste collection service review, development of educational programmes and overall waste management strategy development.
