CAPP Goal

o Today women hold 26% of all (non-tenure track) instructor positions but only 11% of the full professorships ! (Taulbee Survey 2007)

o CAPP GOAL: Increase the number of women who are promoted to full professor and/or reach the top of the technical ladder and serve in leadership roles in the CS community.

o From Taulbee, employment of new PhDs 2005-2007

o % female by sector (number)– Tenure-track in PhD-granting: 20% (131)– Teaching in PhD-granting: 26% (28)– Non-PhD granting CS/CE dept: 25% (58)– Other than a CS/CE dept: 27% (17)– Industry: 15% (288)– Government: 16% (20)

o What are the stats at research labs?– Anecdotally, about the same.– But, we don’t have hard numbers.

o Unclear how to get them.
