The Polar Bear• Has hollow fur which

helps to camouflage.• Lives on land, sea, and

ice.• Eats seals, whales,

young walruses, birds, shellfish, and occasionally oxen.

• Weigh twice as much as a Siberian Tiger.

• Male bears can grow as tall as an elephant (11.5 feet).

The Lemming

• Eats leaves, roots, grass, and berries.

• Do not hibernate during the winter.

• Migrate in large groups.• Have strong legs and

claws for digging• Live in tunnels under the

snow.• Collared lemmings turn

from brown to white in the winter.

The Harp Seal

• Babies are white, adults are grey or white with black markings.

• Eat fish and other sea creatures.

• Are very good swimmers and can stay underwater for half an hour.

• Chew the ice or break it with their heads to come up for air while swimming.

• Think fur and layer of fat keep them warm.

The Wolverine• Related to the wolf and

bear. Part of the weasel family.

• Eats mice, rats, birds and other small animals but larger animals in the winter.

• Uses a odor to warn other animals much like the skunk.

• Pounce on prey from trees and rocks.

• Can live up to 13 years.• Is a very good climber.

The Snowy Owl

• Lives in the Arctic all year long

• Males are pure white, females have dark markings and are larger.

• Nests are made in holes in the ground.

• Has excellent eyesight.
