“More Plant-based eating for the Planet”Scientifi c update by Mark Driscoll in close collaboration with Prof. Em. Harry Aiking.

The growing global population, increasing urbanization and economic growth are placing a huge demand on worldwide food supplies. Our food system plays a signifi cant contribution towards the breaching of a number of environmental limits, including biodiversity loss, nitrogen cycle disruption and climate change.

To address these impacts, we need to tilt the balance of proteins in our diets back towards more plants. Conversion of protein from feed crops into animal protein for human consumption is inherently resource-ineffi cient.

This booklet summarizes the literature to date.

This review is fully supported by the Scientifi c Advisory Committee of the Alpro Foundation.
