Why is the Nintendo Wii different?
• Interactive game console that detects movement

• Console was conceived in 2001
• 2003, Engineers and designers were brought together to develop the concept further
• Controller interface takes form in 2005
• November 19th, 2006, the first Wii console is made available
Why the name Wii?
• Wii, which sounds like we, emphasizes that this console is for everyone
• The two lower case I’s symbolize two players standing side by side
• The name is short, to the point, easy to pronounce and and distinctive with no need to abbreviate
What is a Wii Remote?
• Allows users to control the game using physical gestures and traditional button pressing allowing a unique interaction with the game.
• Uses bluetooth technology to connect to the console
Wii Features
• Wii Menu - Is designed around the concept of television channels with separate channels graphically displayed and navigated using the pointer capability of the Wii remote.

• Players use the Wii remote to mimic actions performed in real life sports such as swinging a tennis racket. 5 sports included are tennis, baseball, boxing, golf and bowling.

• Wii fit is an exercise game consisting of activities using the Wii balance board
• The board measures the users weight and center of gravity and can calculate a users body mass index when told the height of the user.
