What are RSS feeds?

• RSS = Really Simple Syndication

• Feeds allow websites to send updates to you without you having to visit the site to get it

• There are three common types of feeds - RSS, XML and Atom

• As an end user, it doesn't really matter which format the site uses

• You can subscribe to a feed from any website and read all your feeds in a feed reader, in your browser or in some email clients

• Who’s your target audience?– Be specific

• What is your goal?– What do you want them to do as a result?– What action do they take, not just what they

learned?

• Set priorities– 3 to 5 main points

Media interview – memorable points, repeat them

Web page – use subheads, bullets, links to increase searchability

Facebook – link to more info, ask a question to engage people
