Thank you for being here this evening to celebrate and support the Palatine Township Senior
Citizens Council‟s (PTSCC) 12th Annual Caring Hearts Gala - „A Killer Night: Murder, Mayhem
and Mystery.‟
Welcome to the 1920‟s! Tonight‟s theme is based on a highly suspect decade - the "Roaring
Twenties." Hopefully, no one detected you entering through the telephone booth. I‟m sure none
of us want to get “caught” enjoying the era of prohibition, speakeasies, bath tub gin, hot jazz
music, flapper dresses, spats, and gangsters! In keeping with the times, and as the gala‟s title
not so subtly suggests, there will be a MURDER tonight (rest assured - no one will actually be
hurt during the making of this unforgettable event!). Whodunit, you‟ll ask? As guests, part of
your role will be to help apprehend the guilty parties and place them in jail.
We would like to thank everyone who volunteered their time and efforts throughout the year to
plan and manage tonight‟s Gala. Special recognition to the following for their contributions and
dedication to PTSCC:
Gala Sponsors for their trust and support in this wonderful organization
All the members of our Gala Committee and volunteers for their countless hours
devoted to bringing “A Killer Night – Murder, Mayhem and Mystery” to life
Judith Vornbrock for vision (and writing skills) of the fun-filled murder mystery
skit – The Night They Raided Palatine
Volunteer actors and actresses for their extraordinary skills and willingness to put
themselves out there
PTSCC staff, especially Julie Selof and Carol Reagan, for their support and
unlimited patience, spirit, and energy
Our Board of Directors for their time and commitment to the Gala
Ron Bernardi, Live Auctioneer, for his enthusiasm and support of our fundraising
efforts
All the individuals and businesses for their continued generosity and contributions
to the silent and live auctions
Most importantly, thank YOU for opening your hearts (and pocketbooks!) to support PTSCC. As
the first senior center in the country to be accredited under the National Institute of Senior Cen-
ters 2010 standards, your generosity enables us to continue our mission: to provide programs
and services which support the independence and well-being of older adults and promote their
participation in the community.
So, drink up – the moonshine is plentiful.
Bid up – the auction prizes are to die for.
And get up – the dance floor is calling your name … who knows how to Charleston?
Let go of any inhibitions and get ready to enjoy an evening free of prohibition – we‟re about to
have some Roaring 20‟s fun!
Many Cheers,
Karen Fay, Kevin Romejko and Laurie Stock

Citizens Council
Our Mission. . .
is to provide programs and services which
support the independence and well-being of
older adults and promote their participation in
the community.
Who Are We?
The Palatine Township Senior Citizens Council
operates the Palatine Township Senior Center,
the first accredited senior center in the
Northwest suburbs of Chicago, and only one of
five in the State of Illinois. Only one percent of
the approximately 11,000 senior centers in the
United States is accredited.
For over 35 years, the Council has provided
education, health, wellness, and social services,
in addition to nutrition and recreation for adults
55 and older. An independent, private, not-for-
profit corporation, PTSCC is governed by a
voluntary Board of Directors.

Guest of Honor – Pamela Stoltz
The Palatine Township Senior Citizens Council (PTSCC) is pleased to honor Pamela Stoltz
for 32 years of community involvement, both as a Palatine Park District employee and as
a PTSCC volunteer.
Pam has been a Palatine resident since 1973, when she and husband Bob moved here
from Franklin Park with their very young son. Pam started with the Palatine Park District
part-time in 1979, running gymnastics meets and a preschool program. Her excellent
organizational skills resulted in her promotion to Gymnastics Coordinator, also a part-
time position, in 1984. In 1988, she became a full-time Park District employee and in
2001 was promoted to Recreation Manager. In 2002, she joined the Palatine Township
Senior Citizens Council Board of Directors as the Palatine Park District representative.
During her tenure as a PTSCC Board member, Pam served as Secretary for one year, in
addition to serving on the Executive, Accreditation, Facilities, Casino Night, Gala and Girls
Night Out fundraiser Committees. Pam’s suggestion to start a Year-long Raffle has raised
almost $65,000 since it was started in 2005. These funds are used to support the
programs and services of the Palatine Township Senior Center, helping promote the
independence and well-being of the older adults of the Palatine Township area.
Pam retired from full-time employment with the Palatine Park District in June, 2011, but
remains involved as a part-time Gymnastics Assistant. Pam’s dedication and caring
continue to influence hundreds of children each year. In semi-retirement, she now has
more time to spend with husband Bob; son Bobby, his wife Jody and their three children;
and daughter Stephanie Schrader, husband Rob, and their three children. Pam also
continues her long-time fitness routine as a jogger/runner. A little known fact about Pam
is that she ran the 1983 Chicago marathon – in 3 hours, 58 minutes!
Thank you, Pam, for making the Palatine area a better place to live for all ages!

Facts
PTSCC is the first Senior Center in the Northwest Suburbs
accredited by the National Institute of Senior Centers
(NISC) and the third to be accredited in Illinois. We
were the first senior center in the United States to be
accredited under the 2010 NISC Standards.
PTSCC has been providing services to the community for
over 35 years
PTSCC provided services to over 3,200* clients in Fiscal
Year 20101
♦ Health and Wellness – 283
♦ Lifelong Learning - 651
♦ Home Delivered Meals – 95
♦ Noon Dining – 510
♦ Recreation - 907
♦ Social services – 1,253
*(Clients may receive more than one service.
Services will not total 3,200)
PTSCC’s current annual budget is $945,000.
80% of our budget is for direct services for older adults.
Each year, PTSCC must raise almost 40% of its budget
through fund raising events, such as the Gala,
donations, rental income and fees for service.

Planting Seeds for the Future
The Heritage Society is designed to recognize those
who pledge to include PTSCC in planned giving.
Membership is open to all persons and in memory of
those persons who pledge to make a gift in one or
more of the following forms:
A bequest to PTSCC of any amount under the
donor’s will, trust, or similar testamentary instrument,
which gift is completed at the donor’s death.
The naming of PTSCC as a beneficiary of any interest
and any amount of any asset that allows the donor to
name beneficiaries upon his or her death. Examples
of this include IRA accounts, life insurance policies,
and simple ―payable on death‖ designations for bank
accounts and ―transfer on death‖ designations for
brokerage accounts.
Creation of an irrevocable instrument wherein PTSCC
receives a benefit of any amount now or at the
donor’s death. Examples of this include charitable
remainder trusts, charitable lead trusts, and gift
annuities.
Other types of planned gifts as approved by PTSCC
Board of Directors on a case by case basis.
