Thank you for your interest in Krav Maga training.
My name is Aaron Moore and I’m Head Instructor of Krav Maga Global—
Auckland. I’ve been a Krav Maga instructor since 2010 teaching in London and
now in New Zealand.
While living in Europe for many years, I was fortunate to learn Krav Maga from
some of the best instructors in the world and my objective is to share and spread
this knowledge in New Zealand through the creation of a world class club here in
Auckland. I hope that the information in this guide will inspire you to try a class
and join me to learn this amazing system.

Modern & Comprehensive
Krav Maga is a modern and compre-
hensive self defence system that is
practical and effective for ordinary
people.
It is focused on building realistic and
practical self defence skills for situa-
tions that may arise. It will give you a
fighting chance to protect yourself

Krav Maga is relatively new in New Zealand but very popular and fast growing
around the world. Different class types are offered and enjoyed by men, women

Well Organised & Structured
You will find each class well structured
to warm you up, work you hard and
then summarise the information so
you retain it.
Fast and Unique
Each class will have different drills, ex-
ercises that are very dynamic so they
work your mind as well as your body.
The teaching method, techniques, tac-
tics have been refined over many decades and many students, so you will learn
as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Collaborative and Fun
You’ll be working with partners and in small groups collaboratively and you’ll have

Warm-up: Cardio-vascular exercises to raise your heart rate. Mobility
exercises to reduce chance or injury. Power exercises for strength and
muscle development. A game to get you mind buzzing.
Pad Drills: We’ll develop you basic combat skills with boxing and kick-boxing
drills, striking pads. You will work hard and any stress in your life will melt
away.
Technical Development: Here you will work with partner(s) on defensive
techniques. These are more technical so there will be detailed instruction
and feed back from the Instructor.
Summary Drills: Here the class comes together combining the class
elements in a fast paced and dynamic summary drill, that could be based on
a real life scenario. This consolidates the learning, prepares you for reality
and finished the class on a high.

Born on the Street
Krav Maga developed out of the real
street-fight experiences of the founder
Imi Lechtenfeld. He build on his classi-
cal knowledge as a international boxer
and wrestler but stripped away what did-
n’t work and added things that did.
Krav Maga has been continually refined
over many decades to ensure it works in
practice.
Not only are the techniques realistic, but
the way we teach in order to bring as
much realism into learning as possible
(without injuring each other).
Practical for all People
It was designed so that it is practical for all people. Imi the founder was the
head combat instructor of the Israeli
Defence forces for over two decades.
He had to design a program that deliv-
ered combat skills to all citizens (men
and women) over a short period time.
It had to be practical for all and rela-
tively quick to learn.
Sophistication in Simplicity
Imi found that simple natural body
movements that focused counter at-
tacks on vulnerable points on the at-
tacker were the fastest to perform, did-
n't require strength, and the quickest to
learn and remember.
This is an underlying principle of the
Krav Maga you will learn with us.

Scenario Training
Krav Maga utilises “scenarios” to
structure learning for reality, This
is fairly unique to Krav Maga.
Scenario training is where we take
the techniques we’ve learn and
practice applying them in simula-
tion of a real life situation. This of-
ten involves practising in a differ-
ent location and using objects or
surroundings.
Event Timeline
This type of training includes a time-
line, to ensure we act optimally at
each stage.
Before: We can ideally avoid trou-
ble or use techniques / tactics to de-
escalate trouble before it gets vio-
lent.
During: If that doesn’t work we use
different techniques and tactics to
give us the best chance of dealing
with the violence quickly and effec-
tively minimising injury (within the
law).
After: We must escape the danger,
taking any family, friends and then
make sure we deal with any injuries.

Not Traditional...
Krav Maga is modern in its approach to traditional martial arts. It does not contain tradi-
tional elements such as gis, kata, foreign
language, or excessive etiquette.
Our training kit is a dry-fit club tee-shirt,
shorts or cotton trousers and gym shoes.
The instructor is seen as a “coach”, is
approachable and called by first name.
Not a Sport...
Krav Maga is not about preparing stu-
dents to win a rule based one-on-one
sports fight.
The emphasis on self defence brings in
many new variables and techniques to
the training such as the examples in the
sidebar.
Teamwork and Fun...
Students work together in pairs or small
groups most of the time so there is an
environment of coaching each other. It is
a team environment where you can expect to make new friendships.
Classes are fast, dynamic and will challenge you both physically and mentally. In
fact almost all classes will involve games!
Techniques and tactics for:
Multiple attackers;
Surprise attacks;
Defence against attacks from
side or back;
Defence against attacks when on
the ground and attacker(s) is
standing
Defence against attacker(s) with
formal or informal weapons;
Use of common objects for
defence;
Defences in different situations:

We are led internationally by Eyal Yanilov (pictured)
who was a key confidant of Imi Lechtenfeld the founder
Krav Maga, assisting in the development and spreading
Krav Maga. Now after 40-years is recognised as living
Krav Maga Master.
Eyal is my primary instructor, who I have travelled many
times to Israel and other countries to learn from.

Get Fighting Fit
Men find Krav Maga a much more fun and satisfying way to get fit and keep in
shape than going to the gym, running, swimming, etc. Classes are fun, fast and
engaging so you won’t realise until you get to the end how hard you were working.
Traditional strength exercises work your muscles and boxing type drills, and even
games will keep you heart rate elevated, resulting in an all over body workout that
will help you to increase strength, car-
dio capacity and reduce body fat.
Be Extraordinary
It doesn’t matter what job you do, or
what your situation, there is immense
satisfaction in knowing you have the
skills at hand to defend yourself and
your loved ones effectively whatever
the situation should you need it.
I’ve had some very ordinary guys start
Krav Maga who are now very accom-
plished, not only in the training hall,
but have great success stories how
they have used Krav Maga effectively in real situations.
Challenge Yourself
Men in particular enjoy the challenge of learning and mastering Krav Maga to high
levels and progressing through the syllabus. Our gradings are designed to be
challenging but they are a great preparation for reality, and to confirm you have
mastered the material.
Age Doesn’t Mater
There are many men from 35-60yrs who are no longer feel able to participate in
sports such as rugby but are able to fully participate in and enjoy Krav Maga.

Increased Fitness & Tone-Up
Women in particular enjoy the fitness benefits of Krav
Maga. Traditional strength exercises, boxing type drills,
will keep you heart rate elevated and work your mus-
cles for an all over body workout that will help you to
tone and lose weight.
Increased Confidence
Women gain increased confidence from learning practi-
cal defence skills. For women we emphasise solutions
situations such as unwanted attention or attempted
sexual violence.
Defences do not rely on size or strength and work just
as effectively for women as they do for men. We have
many women in our system both as students and instructors, including Natasha pic-
tured.
Train Safely without Getting Hurt
Our techniques include both defences against strikes and grabs which necessitates
some contact in practice.
However, our objective is to give you skills to pro-
tect you, not to go home hurt. We emphasise
safe training through, carefully planned exercis-
es, use of protective equipment and any hard
striking is on pads.
Women can comfortably train in the adults class
with men and ultimately most prefer to do so as
this gives you the confidence your techniques
work against men in practice.
Krav Maga Global also offer short courses and
events specifically for women.

Keep Kids Safe
Krav Maga is very appropriate for boys
and girls of all ages providing techniques
and tactics for kids to protect themselves
from bullying and violence both within the
school setting and in society.
Focus, Discipline, Determination,
Confidence
Krav Maga is also a great way to positively influence a child's character. Boys in particu-
lar are prone to lack of focus and uncontrolled energy. Krav Maga is a great way to use
that energy productively and to teach then focus and discipline in a structured but fun
setting. Krav Maga will have a positive influence on their determination and self confi-
dence which will benefit them in a wide setting.
Age Groups
Kids are divided into age groups both in recog-
nition of their physical and mental maturity.
The teaching emphasis for younger kids is fun,
while developing basic skills. This includes co-
ordination, agility, evading or escaping grabs,
deflecting pushes, falling without getting hurt.
Older kids start to learn a greater range of techniques similar to the adult syllabus with
continued emphasis on fun. Here a focus is on the appropriate use of techniques and
self control.

Civilian Krav Maga for Ordinary People
Imi Lechtenfeld, the founder of
Krav Maga was head combat in-
structor of the Israeli Defence
Forces for over 2-decades so
Krav Maga is very well known
for it military and special forces
application.
However, after leaving the IDF,
Imi focused on developing and
spreading Krav Maga as a civil-
ian system for ordinary people to
protect themselves and their
loved ones. That is the type of Krav Maga we teach at Krav Maga Global—
Auckland.
Shared Principles & Underlying Techniques
While the emphasis is different between the strands, the underlying techniques
and principles are the same for each. For example a defence against a strike is
the same for all. However a civilian’s objective is to stop the attack and escape
unhurt, but a police officer must end a situation by restraining and arresting the at-
tacker so needs specialised knowledge the civilian does not.
