How can one dock support everything?

The dock is uniquely engineered to

• Accept a wider range of AC adapters (90W, 135W, 170W) through a modified power port*, and

• Step down wattage, as required, to support lower power laptops

The 170W AC adapter that will ship with the ThinkPad Mini Dock Plus Series 3 (170W) has a different barrel connector than 65W/90W/135W AC adapters and is not plug compatible with lower power laptops directly.

So, how can we support everything with the new Mini Dock Plus (170W)?

Modified power port

*New 4338-30x (with 170W adapter) will include modified power port from GA.

Existing 4338-10x (with 90W adapter) will adopt modified power port once existing circuit board inventory

is consumed (Spring 2011). Until then, 4338-10x will retain current power port which accepts 90W/135W.
