HistoryThe Cathedral of Christ the Saviour was built in gratitude for God's intercession in the critical period of Russian history as a monument to the courage of the Russian people against the Napoleonic invasion of 1812.

Originally, the idea of building a memorial church belonged to the Army General Mikhail Kiiny and Alexander I started to realise his idea. It took almost 44 years to build The Cathedral of Christ the Saviour. It`s unbelievable!

History This temple was a symbol of the old Russia. It`s orthodox and bourgeois building. Unfortenately, it was destroyed in the USSR, because all people were atheists. There were two explosions on the 5th of December in 1931. Luckily, many people wanted the restoration of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. So, its construction started in 1994. People all around Moscow were really happy!
