  • My Dear Friends in Christ,

If you’re looking for me this weekend, you won’t find me. My father is turning a milestone birthday this year, and so

my mother and two brothers are taking him for a weekend of spring training for our beloved Mets at Port Saint Lucie,

Florida. If you drop me a note or call, you probably won’t hear back from me until Tuesday. Of course, in the meantime, the Parish Office will be open and there will always be a priest on duty!

Since I’ll be away this weekend, I don’t have a homily to prepare, but I wanted to share a simple thought about this weekend’s Gospel.

When is the last time we have taken this Gospel literally, and, as Jesus asked:

“To you who hear I say, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,

bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.”

Praying for those who mistreat us does not mean that we continue to allow them to do so, nor does it mean we pray

for them to be fixed, punished, or altered by God. Rather, to pray for those who mistreat us means we pray, more or

    less, in this way:

Lord, bless them even more than I’d have you bless me!

    With prayers,

    Commitment Weekend

    March 2-3

Pastoral and Administrative Support – $6,000,000

With Cardinal’s Appeal funds, the archdiocese trains and provides nearly 1,000 staff who help with

church management, providing more financial transparency and accountability in our parishes. Your

contributions also enable us to certify leaders of religious education programs for 74,735 children,

provide programming for adult faith formation and guide parishes in establishing youth and young

    adult ministries.

    High School Teens

Find fulfillment, purpose and drive, as thousands of teens have done on CYFM’s Day By Day Agape Retreat. DDA, a

powerful encounter for and BY teens assisted by adult Team and Friars, inspires participants, deepens faith & builds

strong supportive friendships. Take a much needed break from the noisy and confusing world to restore, rejuvenate and

connect the one thing that can help us make sense of everything else - our relationship with God.

Next up: March 3rd: PAIN & PAIN MANAGEMENT: Finding Relief

This workshop is for those who live with chronic pain, or have a loved one who does.

We’ll explore the relationship between different types of pain- physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual…

Learn about identifying underlying causes of pain

and selecting from the pain management approaches available

    (pharmacological and supplemental therapies)

and discuss how pain management has changed in recent years.

If you are familiar with this image this workshop is for you.
