“Then something very exciting happens,” continued Kaf. “The women throw kosher (כָּשֵׁר) candy at the chassan and we can try to catch the candy!”

“What fun!” exclaimed Kippah. “I can turn on my side and the candy can land inside me!” “Chaf and I have the same great catcher’s shape too!” said Kaf. “When we turn towards

the candy it can land straight inside of us!” “Yes, it can!” agreed Chaf. Suddenly, Chaf turned bright red. “But I’m allergic to candy!” “Don’t worry,” Kaf reassured his twin. “You can stand far away from where they throw

the candy. We can practice doing that now with our ball, pretending the ball is candy. Besides, people will be careful not to throw candy at you because everyone knows you can never have candy. In fact, that is how people tell us apart. Everyone knows that I always keep a candy inside me and you never do.”

“I’ll get it!” Kaf and Chaf called out together as they ran to catch the ball. Kaf and Chaf, the twin brothers, were playing catch with their fluffy yellow friend,

Ziggawat. Suddenly, something went flying past them! Then it started to talk!“Hello! Hello!” it said. “Hello, everyone. Can I please join in your fun?” “Who are you?” asked Ziggawat, surprised. “My name is Kippah-Yarmulka-Koppel. How do you do? You can call me ‘Kippah’ (כִּפָּה) for short. Can I please play with you?” “Sure,” smiled Ziggawat. “We’re practicing to catch for the aufruf that will be in shul.” Kippah was confused. “A ruff-ruff? Why will there be a dog in shul?” Ziggawat laughed. “I did not say ‘ruff-ruff,’ I said ‘aufruf.’ An aufruf is when a chassan

is called up to the Torah on the Shabbos before his wedding.”

So many twins! Who is

whooo?

The Shabbos of the aufruf finally arrived. “Chalooptchies whahoopsies!” Chaf exclaimed. “I’m so excited for the aufruf!” Kaf and Chaf went to shul, the beis knesses (בֵּית כְּנֶסֶת), with their mother. When

they arrived, the rabbi was welcoming the new guests. Kaf and Chaf hurried to do the mitzvah of kibbud av va’eim (כִּבּוּד אָב וָאֵם) by bringing their mother a siddur and chumash. Then they went to join their father in the men’s section. Kaf and Chaf took their siddurim and started to daven with kavanah (כַּוָּנָה), concentration.

Soon it was time for the reading of the Torah. The chassan stood by the Torah for his aliyah. Kaf knew what would happen next and got ready to catch the candy. “Mazel tov!” everyone shouted as candies started flying towards the chassan.

Kaf jumped up and easily caught some candy with his cup catcher’s shape. Ziggawat, with Kippah’s help, caught candy too!

“Chalooptchies whahoopsies!” shouted Chaf. “This is fun!” Chaf loved watching everyone run for the candies. But he was very careful not to catch them, even though he had the same catcher shape as his twin, Kaf. Chaf remembered his candy allergy and he did not want to get sick.

Suddenly, a candy came flying towards Chaf and … wham!

The candy went right inside Chaf!

Kaf heard the caterer say his name and came running. “Did someone call my name?” he asked.

Kaleiv stared at Kaf in surprise. He looked from Kaf to Chaf, and from Chaf to Kaf. “I must be seeing double! There are two of you!”

“Oh no!” shouted Kaf. “I’m the real Kaf and that’s my twin brother, Chaf! He looks like me because there is a candy stuck inside him! He is allergic to candies! It could be dangerous!”

Chaf needed help! He ran to the kitchen and went straight to Kaleiv (כָּלֵב), the caterer. Chaf tried to say, “Help!” But, all Chaf could say was, “Chhhh!”

Kaleiv did not see nor hear Chaf. Kaleiv was busy staring at his table.“Who took my custard cream cake?” Kaleiv exclaimed. “Someone took my kugel too!

And my kishke! And my cupcakes! Where could they all have gone?”Chaf tried again to call out for help. “Chhhhhhhhhhhhhh!” This time, Kaleiv heard. He turned around and saw Chaf coming towards him.

Kaleiv thought he saw something inside Chaf, but since Chaf was far away, Kaleiv couldn’t tell what it was.

“Is that my kugel inside of you?” Kaleiv called out. “Chhhh!” Chaf answered.“Is that my cake inside of you?” Kaleiv asked, frowning. “Chhhh!” Chaf answered.“Is that my kishke inside of you?” Kaleiv asked, getting angrier. “Chhhh!” Chaf answered.Chaf came right in front of Kaleiv. “Oh! I see!” Kaleiv exclaimed. “It’s a candy inside

of you! You must be the famous Kaf-the-Candy-Catcher!”

“Chaf has candy!” cried Kippah. “We need help!” Kippah remembered that someone in shul was a member of Hatzoloh and ran to get him. The Hatzoloh man quickly came and got the candy out of Chaf.

Chaf took a deep breath. “Chalooptchies whahoopsies! That was scary! Thank you, everyone, for helping me.”

Then Chaf turned to Kaleiv. “I’m sorry that some of your food is missing. I hope you find it soon.”

Everyone went back to their seats to continue davening. Chaf wished he could get one little peek at the chassan. Chaf looked around and saw a person all wrapped up in a tallis with shiny black shoes sticking out. “That man has the shiniest black shoes I have ever seen!” thought Chaf. “They look brand new! Wait a minute! I wonder if he is the chassan! I must go take a look!”

Chaf tiptoed over to the tallis with the shiny black shoes sticking out. He peeked

underneath the tallis and couldn’t believe what he saw!

It wasn’t the chassan at all! Instead, there were children hiding under the tallis with their giant teddybear and … the caterer’s missing food!

Chalooptchies whahoopsies!

Kaf and Chaf acted wonderfully doing the mitzvah of Kibbud Av Va’eim .Kibbud Av Va’eim means to honor your father and mother .(כִּבּוּד אָב וָאֵם)How did Kaf and Chaf do the mitzvah of Kibbud Av Va’eim?

How can you do that mitzvah?

Middos Wonders!
