Just a quick note to say I will be leaving my position as Stewardship Director at St. Francis at the end of June. I will continue to serve as volunteer lead for the Lector and Eucharistic Minister Ministry - as I did before I joined the staff.

There is never a good time to leave a job that one really enjoys but I simply need time to focus on some other matters. I have really enjoyed being a part of the staff at St. Francis and will miss the daily collaboration. I am deeply grateful for the support of Father Chris, all the staff and the many dedicated disciples serving in Ministry at our Parish. I am not going anywhere so this is not goodbye … I will see you all at Mass, at church events, and of course, serving in Ministry at our wonderful Parish.

Thank you and God Bless, Helen Neff

During this Easter Season, when our readings are from the

Acts of the Apostles, we have the opportunity to

reflect on discipleship.

As a Parish, our VISION Statement is our guide:

To be a vibrant community that welcomes, prays, gives, and shares our faith...

WHY DO WE STUDY OUR FAITH?

Life is about saying “yes” to growing in holiness. A world without knowledge is a world without

wonder and meaning. People deserve answers to their questions, including

those surrounding their faith. As Disciples of Christ, we need to commit to spiritual growth and learning about our faith. Just like prayer, learning has a place in the day.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________

For example, by studying the Sunday readings before coming to Mass, we know that today’s readings contain inspiring, and sometimes challenging messages for us disciples:

First Reading: Help care for those in need ... share your gifts and your faith. Second Reading: We are invited to become living stones for God to build into a spiritual house.

Gospel: “Do not let your hearts be troubled … I am the way, the truth, and the life ...”

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________

A FEW OTHER WAYS WE CAN STUDY OUR FAITH:

Commit to being a continuous learner – it will keep your mind active.

Join Bible Study, Book Club, or a Faith Formation Group – email [email protected] to get started.

Read 5 pages (or more) of a great Catholic book each day. Do a google search for Catholic studies – the online choices are

numerous. We suggest FORMED.org or Ascension Presents. Use your phone – load the MyParish App for daily readings AND

a Bible App so you can easily read a chapter daily.

Studying the Word is a lifelong commitment - Today, tomorrow, and forever!

Even though our church building isn’t open yet, all are welcome to come visit our Blessed Virgin Mary this week and say a Rosary in the beautiful sunshine!

(We do ask that you please be respectful of the continued need for social distancing.)

Also, you can still email your Mothers’ names for our weekend prayer basket, but please use this email: [email protected]

FATIMA, HOPE for the WORLD The feast day for Our Lady of Fatima is Wednesday, May 13th.

Available on FORMED.org: Fatima, Hope for the World is a 13-part video series that tells the story of Fatima from the apparitions in 1917 through the 20th century. It includes details of the apparitions, historical context, the secrets of Fatima, the children seers and their missions, Our Lady’s specific requests and the importance of responding to her call. The 5-minute videos are intended for educational purposes and are appropriate for ages 12 and up.

Community Prayer

Loving God, with a grateful heart, I thank you for hearing my daily prayers for my mom, and on this challenging Mother’s Day I ask your special blessings to keep her safe.

Compassionate God, you graced her with a nurturing and loving heart which she shared with me every day and taught me to share with others especially during these unsettling times. Comforting God, continue to strengthen her when fear grips our country, and we cannot physically wrap our arms around each other, so her love can continue to reflect your Divine Love. Gracious God, protect her, as she protected me my whole life. Bless her, as she blessed me, and continue to love her as she loves me. Thank you God, for making her special. Amen

Amen

Fifth Sunday of

Gathering Song:

“For the Beauty of the

Earth”

Exult, you just, in the LORD: praise from the upright is fitting. Give thanks to the LORD on the harp; with the ten-stringed lyre chant his praises. (Ref) Upright is the word of the LORD, and all his works are trustworthy. He loves justice and right; of the kindness of the LORD the earth is full. (Ref) See, the eyes of the LORD are upon those who fear him, upon those who hope for his kindness to deliver them from death, and preserve them in spite of famine. (Ref)

Presentation of the Gifts: “Come to the Water”

Vs. 3) And let all who toil, let them come to the water. And let all who are weary, let them come to the Lord: all who labor, without rest. How can your soul find rest, except for the Lord?

Vs. 4) And let all poor , let them come to the water. Bring the ones who are laden, bring them all to the Lord: bring the children without might. Easy the load and light: come to the Lord.
