ABSTRACT
The objective of this qualitative research was to study the piano pop
teaching methods at the KPN music academy in the Ngamwongwan mall, Bangkok,
Thailand. This was done in order to do analysis and synthesis to create guidelines for
the appropriate teaching contents to use at the KPN Academy. The research tool was
an interview by questionnaire, which was created by the researcher. The questionnaire
was created using concepts from the teaching contents and instructions from “The Pop
Piano Book” by Mark Harrison, as a model for proper piano pop teaching methods.
The samples used in this study include six piano pop teachers at the KPN
music academy, in the Ngamwongwan mall, Bangkok, Thailand.
The results indicated that the teachers have different objectives, teaching
contents, instructional media, and learning evaluation, and there is not a standard use
of teaching objectives. Therefore, seminars about piano pop teaching should be
organized, intending to find the most efficient and concordant standard teaching
methods, to achieve the required outcomes.
