Winter’s here!

In typical New Brunswick fashion, this winter has been a mixture of snow, freezing rain, mild weather and cold snaps. The students were all very excited to see the first snow, and even more excited when there was enough of it to do all kinds of new winter activities!

Students are taking advantage of the real Canadian Winter to build snowmen, to have snowball fights, to make snow angels and even tasting the snow! They are also participating in numerous winter sports like skiing, Some students are adapting as if they have always lived in Canada and are loving it while others find it

snowboarding, skating, and even snowshoeing. The host families are having as much fun rediscovering the joys of winter through their student’s eyes!

Santiago got a very special birthday gift. His parents came to visit him in Ste-Marie. Lifetime relationships are made and both families consider themselves as part of a bigger international family.

Snow was late to come this year and students were getting anxious to experience a real Canadian winter. Their wishes have been granted… there is more snow this year then prior winters.

Except for a few ice-cold days, January was particularly mild and very pretty. Great for winter activities, like snowboarding.

Learning French

The holiday season in New Brunswick!

The holiday season has been special for all international students. They were lucky to participate in many family and school activities to celebrate the season in many special ways. Photos: - Alfredo, the new Santa Claus -Arantza, Daniela and Andrea at the holiday dinner for all international students. -Some students and their host siblings skating with the university hockey team at the local arena. -Alfredo and his host brothers during a big snowstorm! - Laura and her host sister admiring

the Christmas lights.

Although most students came with different levels of French, all have made incredible progress. And now that the relationships with their host families have been well established, everyone is now able to function better in French at home. Some families have been making extra efforts, watching French television, playing French board games at home, and even doing extra improvised homework. The first semester report cards have also just arrived. Students and parents should be very proud.

The girls in the holiday spirit…

C’est Noël au Canada!!!

Taking it all in!

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow…

Skating with the Université de Moncton’s hockey Team… what an outing!
