“Karate is one of the biggest and most accepted sports in Subotica. In our karate clubs, we have world champions and top competitors. It is only logical that in

addition to such popularity, town of Subotica would be hosting an event of great priority such as this one and to welcome athletes from all parts of Europe.”

Bogdan LabanGradonačelnik SuboticeMayor of Subotica

Nemanja SimovićČlan Gradskog veća za omladinu i sportMember of the City Council for Youth and Sports

Branimir JokaPredsednik Upravnog odboraChairman of the Board

“First, I welcome the initiative of Shotokan Karate Federation of Serbia for the European championship in karate to be held in Subotica. This is a great event for the City and it is an honor to have the best European karatists gathered here to take part in such an event. Sub-otica is a town with an open heart and I hope that competitors will return home taking nice memories from the championship.”

“I’d like to welcome all athletes and countries participating.Let each competitor defend the color of their flag, let the best win, but let us primarily cel-

ebrate friendship and enjoy an excellent sport. In the name of the City and in my own name, I wish all competitors a great success in the competition.”

Aurel PatruPredsednik SKDUN-aPresident of SKDUN

Colin PuttGlavni sudijaChief referee

Dear Members and friends of the SKDUN,The board of directors and organising committee welcome you to Subotica for the 7th

European Shotokan Karate Championships and 7th Kohai Invitational Cup.This is the second occasion that the SKDUN have had the honour to hold such a presti-

gious event in Subotica and the third time in Serbia, we have found the people of this city to be welcoming and supportive.

The competition is an important event in the martial arts calendar and the SKDUN is regarded as a benchmark for all martial artists to aspire to. The standards and expertise of competitors improve every year which means that the officials and coaches from all partic-ipating countries have to rise to the challenge of not only setting the standards, but raising them in order for the karate-ka competing and spectating to understand the deeper meaning of Budo - the way of the warrior: humility, understanding, study and learning whilst main-taining a strong body and spirit, and determination to achieve, but also accept failure in order to understand our weaknesses and therefore improve. We set the standards.

Shin – gi – tai (spirit – technique – body) Meaning : Good technique wins over pure strength, but the spirit dominates everything.Enjoy the moment.

Aurel Patru, President and Colin Putt, Chief RefereeFor and on behalf of the board of directors.

Dragi članovi i prijatelji SKDUN-a,Upravni odbor i Organizacioni odbor vam želi dobrodošlicu u Subotici na 7. Evropskom

Shotokan karate prvenstvu i 7. Kohai kupu.

Aurel Patru, predsednik i Kolin Put, glavni sudija.Za i u ime upravnog odbora.
