1. Product Overview Hytera SmartOne Dispatch, consisting of the SmartOne Dispatch Client, SmartOne Dispatch Server,
and SmartOne Dispatch Gateway, is a professional digital dispatch system realizing the
intercommunication among conventional system, trunking system, analog system, PSTN, etc. It is
applicable for industries and sectors such as manufacturing, energy, public security, transport,
finance, water conservancy, social work, and military. Via the SmartOne Dispatch, the urgent notice and
command can be sent quickly and effectively to the target and the target status will be displayed.
Note
This document describes operations of all functions on SmartOne Dispatch, some of which require
licenses. If you have no permission to access any function, please contact us for the license.
In this document, the components of SmartOne Dispatch are referred to as:

1 Navigation
Pane
Provides the contacts and toolbox. In the contacts pane, you can make a
call to any contact by dragging the contact into the workspace. In the
toolbox, you can use tools such as the AVL, History Track, Dial pad,
Message, Report, etc.
2 Workspace
Provides the operation pane for calls, messages, map, etc. This area
also includes the settings menu, shortcut buttons for call services and
the recycle bin at the bottom. You can create or delete
multiple workspaces on actual requirements.
3 Status Pane Displays the information of the current dispatcher, call pane, call queue,
call records and emergency alarm.
Basic Operations

2. Login and Exit This chapter introduces the operations to log in to and exit the SmartOne Dispatch.
2.1 Logging in to SmartOne Dispatch Step 1 Open SmartOne Dispatch to enter to login interface.
If this is your initial login to SmartOne Dispatch, go to step 2.
If you once logged in to SmartOne dispatch, go to step 3.
Step 2 Click to specify parameters. After settings, click or “Back” to return to the login
interface.

The default value is "5070".

The default value is "12000".

Step 3 Enter the user name and password, and then click “Login”.
Note You can obtain the user name and password from the SmartOne Dispatch administrator.
Step 4 (Optional) To check the information of the current logged-in dispatcher and SmartOne Dispatch,
click the account button (e.g. ) in the upper right corner of the main
interface.
After you click the button, the information of the dispatcher and the SmartOne Dispatch will
appear, as shown below.

2.2 Exiting SmartOne Dispatch Step 1 Click in the upper right corner.
A prompt “System is running. Are you sure to exit?” will appear.

3. Voice This chapter describes how to make the voice dispatch.
3.1 Performing Voice Services This section describes how to initiate, answer, end and dispatch calls.
3.1.1 Understanding the Call Pane In a call pane, you can make call-related operations such as selecting the call type, setting the speaker
volume, etc. Since the call pane display varies with call types, we introduce the call pane with the
individual call in two typical systems (DMR trunking system and DMR conventional system) as the
example.
The following table describes call type buttons.

The following table describes the call status explained by different background colors of the call pane.
Icon Description
Indicates that there is no ongoing call.
Indicates that you are speaking in the call.
Indicates that no one is speaking in the call.
Indicates that a radio subscriber is speaking in the call.
Indicates an emergency call.
To perform speaker and muting settings, do as follows:
Step 1 Click at the bottom of the call pane to expand the call pane.

Step 2 Click in the lower right corner of the call pane to enter the speaker and muting settings
interface, as shown below.
Step 3 Set the parameters and then click . Your settings will be saved automatically.
Select the desired speaker from the drop-down list, and select sound channel (“Left” or
“Right”) for audio output.
Set the mute level and muting duration.
3.1.2 Answering or Ending a Call You can answer or end a half-duplex or full-duplex call.
The following table describes operations in a half-duplex and full-duplex call.

If the call is made by a subscriber from a system other
than the DMR trunking or TETRA, you do not need to
perform any operation, and the call will be received
automatically.
Speak during a call
1. Wait until “PTT Idle” is displayed in the call pane.
2. Click the area with the green background in the call pane
to speak.
3. When you finish speaking, click the area with the green
background again to release the talk right.
End a call Click to expand the call pane, and then click .
Full-duplex call
Answer a call
If the call is made by a subscriber from the TETRA
system, by another dispatcher, or by a telephone
subscriber, click the area with the green background in
the call pane.

The auto answer feature can be enabled for calls made by
a subscriber from the TETRA system. For details on how
to enable the auto answer feature, see "11.3 PTT

If the call is not made by a subscriber from the TETRA
system, by another dispatcher, or by a telephone
subscriber, you do not need to perform any operation,
and the call will be received automatically.
Speaking during a call Speak into the microphone directly.
End a call Click to expand the call pane, and then click .
3.1.3 Initiating a Half-duplex Individual Call You will initiate an individual call in half-duplex mode by default. Here we take the individual call to a
radio subscriber in the DMR trunking system as the example. To initiate a half-duplex call, do as follows:
Step 1 Click the “Contacts” tab in the left navigation pane of the main interface to enter the contacts
pane.
Step 2 Select a contact in the contacts pane.
Step 3 Drag and drop the contact from the contacts pane to the workspace with the left mouse button.
A call pane will appear in the workspace, as shown below.
Step 4 Click “PTT” in the call pane to make a call.
3.1.4 Initiating a Full-duplex Individual Call You can initiate a full-duplex individual call only to radios in the TETRA system, another dispatcher, and
telephone subscribers.

This section describes how to initiate a full-duplex individual call to a radio in the TETRA system. For
details on how to initiate a call to another dispatcher, see "3.13 Initiating a Call to a Dispatcher". For
details on how to initiate a phone call, see "6 Phone call".
Step 1 Click the “Contacts” tab in the left navigation pane of the main interface to enter the contacts
pane.
Step 2 Select a contact in the contacts pane.
Step 3 Drag and drop the contact from the contacts pane to the workspace with the left mouse button.
A call pane will appear in the workspace, as shown below.
Step 4 Click to enable the full-duplex mode. Then the button will change to .
Step 5 Click “PTT” in the call pane to make a call.
3.1.5 Initiating a Group Call Initiating a group call in the trunking system
Step 1 Click the “Contacts” tab in the left navigation pane of the main interface to enter the contacts
pane.
Step 2 Select a group call contact in the contacts pane.
Step 3 Drag and drop the contact from the contacts pane to the workspace with the left mouse button.
A call pane will appear in the workspace, as shown below.
Step 4 Click “PTT” in the call pane to make a call.
Initiating a group call in the DMR conventional system
Step 1 Click the “Contacts” tab in the left navigation pane of the main interface to enter the contacts
pane.

Step 2 Click and select a group call contact.
Step 3 Drag and drop the contact from the contacts pane to the workspace with the left mouse button.
A call pane will appear in the workspace, as shown below.
Note Alternatively, you can click in an existing call pane to expand it, and then select the
desired group from the drop-down list.
Step 4 Click “PTT” in the call pane to make a call.
3.1.6 Initiating an Emergency Call You can initiate an emergency call to the radio subscriber or group. With the preemptive privilege, an
emergency call can terminate any ongoing call of lower priorities.
Note This call service is available only in the DMR conventional, DMR trunking, and TETRA systems.

3.1.9 Performing Ambience Listening An authorized dispatcher can listen to the background noises of a radio remotely without the knowledge
of the radio subscriber. This feature is conducive to enhancing the radio subscriber’s safety.

Step 1 Click the “Contacts” tab in the left navigation pane of the main interface to enter the contacts

Step 2 Select a contact in the contacts pane.

3.2 Monitoring a Contact You can monitor all voice calls and messages from the designated radio subscriber or group. You can
terminate the monitored ongoing individual call and group call, or interrupt the active call to speak.
Here we take monitoring the message from a radio in the DMR trunking system as an example.

To monitor a contact, do as follows:

3.3 Overriding a Call You can forcibly terminate ongoing calls of a monitored individual or group.
Note This feature is available only in the DMR trunking and TETRA systems.

3.4 Interrupting a Call You can interrupt any active half-duplex call that you are involved in or monitoring, so as to speak.

Ambience Listening and GPS Polling, so as to guarantee communication security in case the radio is
lost. To re-activate the stunned radio, a Revive command from the SmartOne Dispatch is required.
Note These features are available only in the DMR conventional, DMR trunking, and XPT systems.
You can only stun a radio with the authentication feature enabled.
Step 1 Click the “Contacts” tab in the left navigation pane of the main interface to enter the contacts
pane.
Step 2 Right-click a radio and select “Stun” in the context menu, as shown below.
Step 3 In the “Tip” dialog, click “OK”.
Note After the radio is stunned, the option in the context menu will change to “Revive” accordingly. To revive the radio, right-click the radio and select “Revive” in the context menu.
3.5.2 Killing a Radio You can kill a radio. A killed radio will be deprived of all functions permanently, unless it is
reprogrammed by a qualified dealer.
Note This feature is available only in the DMR trunking system. You can only kill a radio with the
authentication feature enabled.

the template.
To delete a message template: click at the end of the target message template, and
click “OK” in the pop-up dialog box.

5.1 Understanding the Toolbar and Controls Before operating the map, you should understand the toolbar on the map, as well as the related controls

You can hold down the left mouse button and drag the mouse pointer to pan the

location to another on the map. To be specific, click to choose the start location
and then the end location. At this time, the distance result is displayed on the right
of the toolbar. Please note that the new area result will overwrite the old one.
: Measures the area. Click to choose the start location, and then click other
locations on actual requirements. Then double-click to finish. The measuring
result is displayed on the right of the toolbar.
To change the distance tool to the area tool , hold down or
right-click it, or click the triangle at the bottom right corner of the tool to select
in the drop-down list, and vice versa.
Views the full map
You can view the full extent of the geographic data used in the map.
Selects the radio subscribers in an area on the map, so as to create a dynamic
group or crosspatch group for call. See “5.8 Performing DGNA/Crosspatch on the
Map” for details.
Clears the drawing.
Refreshes the map.
Sets the genfencing alarm. For details on how to set the genfencing alarm, see

5.4 Enabling the Single Locating Feature You can send a single locating request. After that, the radio with the GPS feature activated (i.e. the
icon will be displayed on the radio screen) will transmit its GPS data to SmartOne Dispatch and be
shown on the map for once.

5.8 Performing DGNA/Crosspatch on the Map You can create a temporary dynamic group or crosspatch group by selecting the radio subscribers from
the map flexibly. To be specific, you can draw a circle on the map to select the radio subscribers, and
they will be added to a group automatically. Then you can initiate a call to the group directly.
Note This feature is available only in the DMR trunking and TETRA systems.
Step 1 Click to choose a start location on the map, and move the mouse pointer to draw a circle. Then
click again to finish drawing when all the target radios are in the circle.
In the following figure, we take the radios in different systems as the example.

automatically. Then a dynamic group call pane will appear on the map.

5.9 Genfencing Alarm When a radio subscriber enters or leaves a specific region, SmartOne Dispatch will generate a
genfencing alarm. You can add such regions and specific rules for genfencing alarms.

7. History Track You can query the radio subscriber’s moving track and play it in accordance with the radio ID, alias or
time period, and then replay the track via the following ways:
Point by Point: To play back the moving track point by point.
Show All: To play back the whole track.

interface to enter the toolbox pane, and then drag and drop to the workspace with the left mouse

9. Emergency Alarm Note
This feature is available only in the DMR conventional, DMR trunking, TETRA, and XPT systems.
You can view and handle the emergency alarm sent from the radio subscriber. In case of emergency,
the radio subscriber can make an emergency alarm via the radio, and the alarm will be sent to the
SmartOne Client. After receiving the emergency alarm, the SmartOne Client will display the alarm
information and give the alarm tone to alert you, so you can view and handle the alarm immediately.
The received alarm information will be displayed in the “Emergency” area, as shown below.
Click after you handle the emergency. Then the prompt “Handle success” will appear at the top of
the main interface, and the alarm information will disappear.
After receiving an explicit emergency alarm from the radio in the DMR trunking system (access via
the CSSI) and TETRA system (access via the CSSI), the SmartOne Client will automatically make
an emergency call to that radio if the parameter ”Auto setup emergency call” is selected (see “11.4
Alarm Settings”).
After receiving an implicit emergency alarm from the radio in the DMR trunking system (access via
the CSSI) and TETRA system ((access via the CSSI)), the SmartOne Client will automatically listen
to the background noises of the radio.

10. Other Features 10.1 Website Browsing Step 1 Click the “Toolbox” tab in the left navigation pane of the main interface to enter the toolbox pane,
then drag and drop to the workspace with the left mouse button.

Note When browsing a website, if you want to adjust the size of the web browser window, you can drag any of the four angles of the window with the left mouse button.

Authorized
Organization
Specifies the organization authorized to the dispatcher. When an organization is
authorized to the dispatcher, he/she can view the radios and groups in the
organization.
Authorized
System
Specifies the system authorized to the dispatcher. When a system is authorized to
the dispatcher, he/she can dispatch the radios and groups in the system.
SAP
Selects the service access point (SAP) that the dispatcher is authorized to use.
When a SAP is selected, the calls made by the dispatcher will be forwarded to the
corresponding system through this SAP.
Functions Grants the dispatcher the permission to use the specified functions.

Sets whether to clear the selected icon.
Checked: to clear the selected icon.

Longitude Enters the longitude that the organization is located at.

Number Type
Selects the number type of a device.
The available options are as follows:
Individual Call Number: If the device to be added is not a telephone device,
select "Individual Call Number".
PSTN Number: If the device to be added is a telephone device, select "PSTN
Number".
This parameter is available only when "System" is set to the TETRA system.
Staff Specifies the staff to use the device.
Icon
Sets the icon of the device.

parameter and “Device Icon” set in the organization pane (see “Adding an

Confirms whether the device is with the GSP module (reserved).
Checked: indicates the device is with the GPS module.
Unchecked: indicates the device is without the GPS module.
Enable GPS
Sets whether the SmartOne Server will poll the GPS data of the device.
Checked: The SmartOne Server will poll the GPS data of the device.
Unchecked: The SmartOne Server will not poll the GPS data of the device.
Time Sets the time interval of GPS polling.
When both “Enable GPS” and “Time” are selected, you can set the time interval.
Or When you select the “Time” and “Distance” simultaneously, the “Or” and “And”
options will be available.
Or: Indicates that the GPS data will be transmitted to SmartOne Dispatch by either
time interval or distance interval.
And:Indicates that both conditions must be met. In other words, the GPS data will
be transmitted to SmartOne Dispatch by both time interval and distance interval.
And
Distance
Sets the distance interval of GPS polling.
When both “Enable GPS” and “Distance” are selected, you can set the distance
interval (unit: meter).
GPS Channel
Sets the type of the channel used to transmit the GPS data. The options include:

This parameter is available when “GPS " is selected.
with Display
Selects whether the device is with display.
When “Yes” is checked: indicates the device is with display.
When “Yes” is unchecked: indicates the device is without display.
RRS Interval
Sets how often the device will register with the base station.
This parameter is available only when “System” is set to the DMR conventional or
XPT system.
The default value is "900s".

12.4 Managing the Service Access Point (SAP) You can modify the SAP and manage the dispatchers that the incoming calls are assigned to through the
SAP.
Generally, when a radio subscriber makes a call to a dispatcher, the call will be assigned to the default
dispatcher through the SAP. If the default dispatcher is offline or not configured, the call will be assigned
to another selected dispatcher by the predefined rule.
Note
You can only modify the SAP rather than add or delete any.
To modify a SAP, do as follows:

Route Allocate
Sets the rule to determine how the incoming calls will be assigned to the selected

The options include: All, by Idle Duration, by Call Qty. and in Loop.
All: indicates that the incoming call will be assigned to all the selected
dispatchers who are online.
by Idle Duration: indicates the incoming call will be assigned to the
dispatcher who is idle for the longest duration among the selected dispatchers.
by Call Qty.: indicates the incoming call will be assigned to the dispatcher who
has received least calls among the selected dispatchers.
in Loop: indicates the incoming calls will be assigned to the selected dispatchers
circularly.
Group List
Sets the group that the SAP can use.Be sure to select the desired group; otherwise,
you cannot make a call to the group.
This parameter is available only when “System” is set to the DMR conventional
system.
12.5 Managing the Status Message You can add, modify or delete the status message.
Note This feature is available only in the DMR trunking and TETRA systems.

Callback Message: indicates a special status message that is sent from a radio
subscriber to a dispatcher to alert the dispatcher to call back. If the radio
subscriber cannot make a call to the SmartOne Client for some reason, he/she
can send a callback message to the SmartOne Client. After the SmartOne Client
receives the message, it will directly call this radio subscriber. After you set the
callback message, the SmartOne Client can receive it from a radio.
Emergency: indicates the emergency alarm message that sent from a radio
subscriber to a dispatcher when the subscriber is in emergency. After receiving
the message via the SmartOne Client, the dispatcher can handle the
emergency.
This option is only available when the “System” is set to “Hytera TETRA”.
Code
Sets the status code of the status message. During status message
communications, only the status code will be transmitted, and the receiving
party will need to find the corresponding message content according to the status
code.
Content Enters the content of the status message.
12.5.2 Modifying a Status Message Step 1 Select the target status message in the “Status Message” page, and click “Edit”, as shown

Authorizes a dispatcher to manage the crosspatch group.
The authorized dispatcher can manage the crosspatch group members, delete,
disable and enable the crosspatch group, and set its alias when operating the
SmartOne Client.
Member Sets the members of the crosspatch group.
TX Audio Delay
Sets how long the audio transmission is delayed during the connection of a
crosspatch.
This feature is used to avoid voice loss in case any member speaks too early before
the crosspatch is set up. In the process of crosspatch setup, if any member speaks,
his/her speech will be stored in the SmartOne Server; after the crosspatch is
established successfully, the speech will be played back in the call, so every
member can receive the complete speech.
Enable
Sets whether to enable the crosspatch.
Checked: to enable the crosspatch.
After the crosspatch is enabled, any member can initiate a crosspatch by
initiating a call to another member.
Unchecked: to disable the crosspatch.
After the crosspatch is disabled, the call made from a member to another will be
the normal group call rather than a crosspatch.
12.6.2 Modifying a Crosspatch Group Step 1 Select the target crosspatch group in the “Crosspatch” page, and click “Edit”, as shown below.

12.7 Managing the Predefined DGNA You can add, modify or delete the TETRA dynamic group.
In the TETRA system, the dynamic group ID needs to be predefined before a dispatcher creates a
dynamic group. After the group ID is predefined, the dispatcher can request for the dynamic group
establishment by sending the dynamic group ID and the desired dynamic group members to the TETRA
system.
Note This feature is only applicable in the TETRA system.

12.8 Changing the Administrator Password Step 1 Click “Password” in the upper right of the main interface.
Then the password settings dialog box will appear, as shown below.
Step 2 Enter your old and new passwords, and confirm the new password again. Then click “Save” to
finish.
12.9 Changing the Display Language Click “Language” in the upper right of the main interface, and then select the language in the context
menu.
