A decrease in the volume of
production of palay of 4.53% and corn of
1.38% were recorded in the 1st Quarter of
2018 in Albay due to a scant area planted of
palay caused by the rehabilitation of some
irrigated farms in Libon, Albay; thus, the
decrease of volume of production of corn was
attributed to less area planted of white corns
and a decrease in yield per hectare of yellow
corn.
Contrary to the volume of production of
palay recorded in the 1st Quarter of 2017 of
44, 492 metric tons, it went down to 42, 457
metric tons in 2018. The said decrease was
caused by the 7% difference of volume of
production of palay in irrigated farms, which is
from 38, 583 metric tons in 2017 to 35, 879
metric tons in 2018. On the other hand,
rainfed farms in Albay increased its volume of
production of palay to 11.32%. The increase
went from 5, 909 metric tons in 2017 to 6, 578
metric tons in 2018; however, the increase did
not make enough volume of production of palay
to yield more in 2017.
Volume of Production of Palay and Corn of Albay decreases in the
1st Quarter of 2018
Similarly, the volume of production of
corn in Albay decreased in the 1st
Quarter of 2018. From the recorded 7, 161
metric tons in 2017, it went down to 7, 062
metric tons in 2018. It was triggered by the
10.42% decrease of volume of production of
white corn. The volume of production went
from 7, 161 metric tons in 2017 to 7, 062
metric tons of corn in 2018. Furthermore, the
decrease in the volume of production of corn
was in lieu to the 0.39% decrease of volume of
production of yellow corn, which is from 6, 451
metric tons in 2017 to 6, 426 metric tons in
2018.

Vital Statistics are derived from information obtained at the time when the
occurrences of vital events and their characteristics are inscribed in a civil register.
Vital acts and events are the births, deaths, fetal deaths, marriages, and all such
events that have something to do with an individual's entrance and departure from life
together with the changes in civil status that may occur to a person during his lifetime.
Recording of these events in the civil register is known as vital or civil registration and
the resulting documents are called vital records.
