Reflections and ResolutionI am writing this the day after Christmas. The 2nd day of Christmas. Yet this is to be my January 2019 newsletter article. As I look back over 2018 we have all gone through many changes. We have formed a new Parish between First Pres of Delphi & Flora Presbyterian. I have become the part-time pastor for each of these churches making me the full time Parish Pastor. Many questions have been raised about what this means for each church. On January 5th, both sessions and the Parish Council will meet to better understand the needs of the other and to make plans for the future of each. How do we as disciples of Jesus the Christ work together to broaden the Kingdom of God? How do I serve God today? What will bring God glory and honor and praise? These are not questions we can answer ourselves. These can only be answered by God through earnestly seeking Him in
prayer and devotion to His Word.I realize that New Year’s Resolutions are rather outdated anymore. Very few people genuinely make them because we know they won’t last past the first week of January. But what if we each made a resolution to seek God’s guidance for our churches each day. What if each member of the congregations decided to take part in the work of the church by helping out with committees as they plan and do things? I’ve often said that you can easily tell when God is ready for you to retire from Christian service; you will be looking at Him face to face. If you are past the ability to be a hands-on person, then give of your wisdom and advice. If you think you have no advice or wisdom to give, then
volunteer to be a prayer warrior. No experience or special skills needed. You only have to ask God what He wants and listen for His answer. How can we be the hands and feet of the Holy Spirit as He works in the hearts of those who have walked away from the church for various reasons. We can and we must seek out not only those who have never professed faith in Christ, but also those who once professed but are no longer sure about what they believe. As long as I am the pastor in this Parish, we will be Bible based, reaching out to others in the name and through the love of Jesus Christ. I look forward to see what God has in store for us in 2019.Your sister in Christ,Pastor Grace

I do want to apologize to the congregation for failing to enter Christian Ed Articles into the Pulse the last 2 months. I can say I was very busy. We are all busy with our everyday lives. I allowed the worldly every
day events to swallow up my attention and time. Please forgive me for my neglect.
Sunday SchoolAdult Sunday School is still studying Entrusted, A 2nd Timothy Study. They are
averaging 3-5 adults each Sunday. More minds would lend to more powerful discussion. Everyone takes on attributes of those who take up our time. The more we sink ourselves into God’s word – and surround ourselves with God’s, the more like Jesus we will become – and Remain. Daily and weekly habits determine who we are. Please, prayerfully, consider joining our Adult Sunday School.
Children’s Sunday School is averaging 4 students weekly. Up through the middle of November, we were learning the location of the books of the Bible. We have looked at books through 2nd Thessalonians and will complete the rest of the books after the Holidays. During November, the children opened their eyes to how blessed they are. December has been a time of reflecting on God’s love. The children understand Jesus is God in human
form. They are overwhelmed with God’s Grace and the Birth of our Teacher and Savior, Jesus Christ.Adult Sunday School is upstairs, next to the Kitchenette. Children’s Sunday School is
downstairs, in the room left of the stairs. Praying we will be seeing you!!
Oasis has a new format this year and the kids seem to love it. The kids are divided into 4 different age groups. Each week 2 groups enjoy Crafts and Games while the other 2
groups go to Bible Study and Music. The following week, the groups switch which activities they complete. Each child will have a Bible Study every other week. December 19th was our Christmas Program. All parents of Oasis Children, and the congregations from the First Christian, Delphi Presbyterian, Cutler Presbyterian and Flora Presbyterian were invited. The evening started with a Christmas dinner. There was worship time, a presentation from the children and a Christmas Trivia Game. All Fourth Graders were presented with a bible and each child received a Christmas gift. Fund Raiser for Camp GenevaThe Swine/Pig Fund Raiser ended on November 30th. The First Christian, Cutler Presbyterian, and Flora Presbyterian Churches raised $1082.00. The Carroll County Community enjoyed their participation in the fund raising. There are some additional fund raising planed for the next few months. Our mission of teaching the community children of God’s Love, Grace and Responsibilities has expanded from Oasis classes during the school year to also sending the children to Christian Summer Camp at the Geneva Center. Last year, we sent 12 children to Geneva with a cost of $3,400.00. The only way to continue this mission is by raising funds from the churches and the community.

Leviticus: About the LevitesIn this book we learn not only what the rules & regulations were for Levitical priests, but also what was expected of the Israelites as a nation. It has been said that the key verse for Leviticus is “Be holy, because I am holy.” Lev 11:44,45Join me for coffee, tea, refreshments for the body and the soul as we seek God’s will for us through His word. Each Thursday 5:30 – 7:30 404 Washington Blvd, FloraPaul: A forgiven child of GodThere is much to learn from the writings of Paul as well as his personal life. All of us have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. But when we accept Christ as our Savior and accept the forgiveness of our sins that is freely given, we too can accomplish mighty things with God.Each Sunday 4:00-6:00 Delphi Church Office 211 S Indiana St, Delphi
