The Voice!

I would like to thank you for the Pastor Appreciation gift and the support you have given during this time of the Covid-19 dilemma! You are loving, understanding, and I appreciate the great outpouring of your generosity. May God continue to bless each of you!

We are now six months into the Covid-19 pandemic and I keep praying we will be able to get back to normal scheduling in the church. When things change, we will get the word to you! With the increase in cases, we do not know what will happen next week. I thank you for your support and attendance while we have the restrictions in place. The longer we wait, the more confusing it gets! I am still confused as I was in the beginning! I am concerned with the political, economic, and various medical responses made regarding the effects of the virus! We know people are contracting the virus, people are losing their lives from the virus, and our lives have been changed dramatically from the virus. And, we keep hearing different messages. What is the true information concerning the Covid-19 virus? I have come to the following conclusions!

No one really knows what we need to know concerning the Covid-19 virus.

Scientist’s know some of the information but do not agree concerning prognosis, treatment, and cultural practices.

The problem has become so politicized that politicians have used the crisis to promote their agenda’s and I am not sure I believe any of their responses.

Conspiracy theorists have a myriad of opinions and leads to more confusion.

People have suffered from the physical, economic, and devastation of the virus.

In the midst of the confusion, followers of Christ do not have to face fear and anxiety!

God is large and in charge! God reveals that in is Word!

One passage of Scripture to consider is Psalm 91, which teaches how God takes care of His own. Take time to read all 16 verses of this precious passage. To summarize the Psalm, we are told that those who belong to God through faith in Jesus Christ dwell in the inner sanctum of the presence of God, who protects them as a mother bird cares for her young under her wings. The promise is that no evil shall befall them because God will keep them in all of their ways. Through God’s grace, love and mercy, He will “set them on high” and show them his salvation that involves the deliverance through whatever may come their way. This applies to COVID-19 and all other trials of life.

Some of those trials are personal, congregational, and national! Personally, there are those

facing life without the support of others, medical issues, and separation from family and

friends. There are physical and emotional issues people are facing alone.

Thoughts from Pastor David

Congregationally, there are churches closing their doors due to lack of participation and support. We see the violence and destruction taking place in some of our cities and fear for the future of our nation. Christ is our only hope! God provides hope in His Word!

Realizing God’s promise to provide for His own as taught in Psalm 91, and then trusting God to keep His Word, as He always does, will erase the greatest of all fear, anxiety and panic in the hearts of the deeply concerned.

So how does one get to the place of trusting God and seeing His provision? Perhaps remembering the following facts about God will help.

God is in control. So depend upon Him to do what is right.

God has a purpose. So watch for Him to work.

God will provide. So trust in Him to deliver.

God has a mission. So declare His truth abroad.

God has a remedy. So praise Him for what He will do.

Even though there is a lot of advice being given in the world as to how to approach COVID-19, the sooner one focuses on Who God is, what God expects and how God works, and then is convinced of the fact that God causes, allows and directs all things according to His sovereign plan, the more one will experience the strength, hope, peace, comfort and confidence that only God can provide.

I Corinthians 14:33 states, “33 For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.”

As Philippians 4:6,7 says, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” The lyrics of the song, Turn Yours Eyes Upon Jesus” is a great summation of His hope!

Turn your eyes upon Jesus Look full in His wonderful face

And the things of earth will grow strangely dim In the light of His glory and grace!

In-Christ,

David

On-Line giving is available at our websitewww.fsbc.org

Greetings brothers and sisters! I was inspired by Pastor's message on the 19th about how we

are to conduct ourselves as Christians in our relationships. We talked about how our love can

point others to Christ. I wanted to touch on our words and how we can use them to speak life into

those around us. Ephesians 4:29 tells us to not let any unwholesome talk come out of your

mouth, but to build others up. Colossians 4:6 similarly reminds us to speak with grace and salt.

This "seasoning" of our tongues refers to how we are to be set apart in our words and deeds. This

is important for our personal walk with Christ and our testimony to others. How can we tell others

about the hope within our hearts if we tear others down with our words? How can we point

others to a redeeming Savior and also participate in crude talk? How can we share the gospel if

we do not do it with gentleness and respect? Proverbs 18:21 wisely instructs "The tongue has the

power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit." That firmly plants the choice at

our feet! I challenge you to choose life with your words this month, no matter what.

In Christ Andrew Denton
