Evil Dead: The Musical
Stray Dog Theatre at Tower Grove Abbey Opens Thursday, October 10 for
12 performances running thru Saturday, November 2
It’s back! Based on the 80s cult classic Evil Dead films, this show is hilariously campy and bursting with more farce than a Monty Python skit. Five college students spend the weekend in an abandoned cabin in the woods, accidentally unleashing an evil terror encountering everything from ancient evil spirits to revenge-seeking Canadian De-mons. It’s all ridiculous and wild and great fun! In this comedic take on 1980s horror franchise, characters and demons sing and dance to songs written specifically for the musical.
Evil Dead: the Musical takes all the elements of the cult classic horror films, Evil Dead 1, Evil Dead 2, and Army of Darkness and tosses them all into a blender to make one crazy, hysterical theatrical experience. You might think that you’d need to have seen at least one of Sam Raimi’s “Evil Dead” movies to appreciate this show. But—No, you don’t. The movies and the musical take the tried and true storyline about hormonal college students borrowing a cabin in the woods for a short vacation. They discover a 13th-century book of the dead, accidentally play an audiotape of demon-summoning words and are soon being possessed, one at a time, by evil forces. And, as in the films, Ash is there to dish out his various one liners and fight the never ending demons.
In keeping with the spirit of the original 1983 film, so gory that it was rated NC-17, the stage play features the infamous “Splatter Zone”. I am sure that you can guess what will be splattered in the splatter zone. These Signature Seats are not for the faint of heart! With your purchase of a “Splatter Zone” seat you also receive an exclusive T-Shirt with just enough white space to create a one-of-a-kind souvenir. Those adventurous enough to sit in the “Splatter Zone” are encour-aged to dress down.
Tickets are available at the box office or online at www.straydog-theatre.org Call 314.865.1995 to check availability and/or make reservations
Stray Dog Theatre (SDT) mission is committed to unleashing the art of theatre and community service on Saint Louis and the surround-ing community. Stray Dog Theater at Tower Grove Abbey is located at 2336 Tennessee Avenue near Tower Grove Park and St. Louis’ world-famous Botanical Garden.

Imagine there was a time when bottled water didn’t exist in our catalog of popular commodities. Perhaps the trend started in 1976 when the chic French sparkling water, Perrier made its introduction. There it was seductively bottled in its emerald green glass amongst the era of disco and the spectacle of excesses . . . who could resist right?!
What could be more decadent than to package, sell and consume what most consider (in the western world) a common human right easily supplied through a home faucet! It wasn’t until the 1990s when bottled H2O became an everyday common sight and a symbol of our cultural desire towards fitness and “health-consciousness”. Even today health enthusiasts claim drinking water often helps to “detox and boost the metabolism!”
Here are seven of the most thought-provoking reasons to skip the bottled water if possible:
1. Bottled water is 240 to 10,000 times more expensive than tap water.
2. A single half-liter of bottled water costs as much as an entire day’s worth of cooking, washing, showering and toilet flushing with tap water.
3. If a family relied on bottled water instead of tap water each day, their monthly water bill would reach as much as $9,000.
4. Around 33 cents of every dollar spent on a bottle of water from abroad goes to transportation costs.
5. For every liter of bottled water you drink, the production process uses twice as much. So if you buy one liter of water, you are actually paying for three.
6. Most of the money bottled water companies spend is put towards not the water itself, but marketing and advertising.
7. Despite all that, Americans still spend $15 billion every year on bottled water.

The St. Louis City Edition would like to take a mo-ment to offer condolences to the family and friends of Trifon Panopoulos, Proprietor of Missouri Bar and Grill, great man and friend. Trifon passed away Saturday, September 14th. Loved by many and a St. Louis mainstay, he will be missed.
Trifon Panopoulos graduated from Roosevelt High School then went to work for The Best Steak House in midtown, across from the Fox Theatre. In
1983, he and Chris Dubis bought Mis-souri Bar and Grille from Gus Pathenos. Panopoulos bought out Dubis a few years later.
He kept the bar open every day, making sure cus-tomers who worked on holidays or had nowhere to go could stop in for a bite to eat or to down a cold one.
