Create Your Personal Brandw o r k s h e e t

“At the center of your being you have the answer: you know who you are and you know

what you want.” — Lao Tzu

You are a brand.

No matter if you’re a stay at home mom or working in finance, you are a brand.

The question is:

Are you defining your brand on purpose?

Or, are you allowing it to be defined by others?

This month is all about how to create your personal brand, because …

Your personal brand matters.

Your brand is your story. It’s what you’re known for and how people experience you.

It’s about bringing who you are to what you do and how you do it.

When you deliver your brand clearly and consistently, you will become known for it in the minds of others and yourself.

Creating your personal brand is important for several reasons:

1. It helps you in your career.

When you know who you are — your strengths, what you bring to the table and what you value, you can begin to

align with the perfect companies and opportunities that are seeking what you have to offer.

If you’re an entrepreneur, it will help you stand out in the marketplace.

If your career is a stay-at-home mom, it will help you guide the choices you make within your home and family.

If your new career is retirement, it will define how you spend your time.

2. It creates more ease in life.

When you know who you are, what you value and stand for and what you want to express, it makes decision making easier — everything from what clothes to buy to where to travel.

3. It inspires you to create yourself versus fix yourself.

You’re not broken. You’re amazing just as you are. I want you to see everything from here on out as a creative process where you decide you want to be and delete what doesn’t serve your brand and add what does.

You did not come here to fit in or follow the crowd. You’re here to make a name of yourself.

You’re here to be known.

You ARE a brand.

So, let’s dive into what you want your brand to say about you.

Passionately Yours,

Tonya

03Exercise #3: Your Brag List

It’s time to brag on yourself. The things you are often great at will be a part of your personal brand.

Ask yourself:

What comes easily to me?

What am I good at?

What do people often thank me for?

What is on your brag list?

04Exercise #4: Core Values

Core values are the foundational beliefs of a person that guide their choices.

Your personal brand is built on what you value.

Listen to Episode 139 of the French Kiss Life Podcast for questions to help you hone your core values.

05Exercise #5: Create Your Personal Mission Statement

Every great company has a mission statement as the cornerstone of everything they do.

And, every great personal brand has the same.

For example, here’s Maya Angelou’s: “My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.”

My personal mission statement is simple (and you won’t be surprised): to French Kiss Life.

A personal mission statement comes from the core of who you are and defines how you show up in the world and what you do.

Look back over exercises #1 and #2 and then ask yourself:

How do I want to be known?

What do I want my family to say about me when I’m gone?

How do you want people to feel when they interact with you?

What do you deeply believe?

What kind of world do you want to live in?

Take what you’ve written and distill it down into a statement:

Here are some examples of personal mission statements from clients:

To inspire positive change through coaching. To live a creative life through my artwork. To encourage women to see their beauty. To be a mother who supports my children to become who they were meant to become. To positively impact the lives of every person I meet.To encourage everyone I interact with on a daily basis.

What is your personal mission statement?

06Exercise #6: Your Brand Brief

Every brand has a creative brief that drives everything they do — from the colors they use to the tone of the brand to the fonts.

It drives the reputation of the brand in order for it to remain consistent and known for its mission.

To create your own brand brief, consider:

What colors best represent your personal brand?

If your personal brand had a storefront, what would it look like?

Describe an outfit that best represents your personal brand?

Imagine someone writes an article about your personal brand, what words do they use?

What words do they avoid?

Write a social media post that embodies your personal brand.

What images best capture your personal brand?
