Objectives in International Accreditation

The Accreditation Association endeavors to provide international accreditation in a manner that:

1. Emphasizes ease of adaptability to different types of organizations and clarity in the language of its standards;

2. Promotes adapting its standards to the relevant health care community of the applicable country without unnecessarily compromising the essence of the applicable standards; and

3. Encourages health care providers of the applicable country to provide input regarding standards and to assume the surveyor role.

1. Cultural Adaptation

Rather than a mass-market approach, the Accreditation

Association recognizes the unique attributes of existing health care systems and has initiated a one-on-one approach in order to learn about and understand it.

Introductory Private Meetings with Clinics and Physicians

in order to (i) acquaint the Accreditation Association with the accreditation marketplace and (ii) explore interest in accreditation, including whether such entities would be interested in providing information and/or advice to the Accreditation Association relating to entry into the local marketplace.

Follow-up Conferences with Clinics and Physicians

Establishment of Comprehensive International Surveyor Program :

AAAHC Surveyor Corps: AAAHC surveyors are physicians, dentists, podiatrists, pharmacists, nurses and health care administrators, who are actively involved in ambulatory health care. Only experienced professionals who meet stringent recruitment qualifications are selected in a rigorous application process. Candidates have to submit a complete application, including relevant credentials and supporting documentation. These individuals are screened by the Surveyor Training and Education Committee, approved by the Board of Directors, and trained by the Accreditation Association.

Team Approach to Surveying: North American AAAHC surveyors would be assigned to International AAAHC surveyors for consultation on surveys and the surveyor process.

2. Economic Efficiencies and

Affordability

AAAHC is a 501c(3) not-for-profit corporation under applicable U.S. tax regulations with a mission of advancing and promoting patient safety and health care.

Commitment to understanding the local health care market’s budgetary considerations and present needs and capabilities in order to develop a pricing paradigm that is affordable and reasonable to the international health care provider community .

Desire to accredit those facilities which exhibit the highest standard of health care .

2. Economic Efficiencies and

Affordability (Cont.)

Accreditation is paid for in one payment (due prior to the survey), and the maximum term of accreditation available is three (3) years.

In the U.S. market, pricing is comparable to other U.S. accrediting agencies – we are also competitively priced internationally.

The Accreditation Association is also committed to exploring opportunities for partnering/cooperating with local organizations for added economic efficiency.
