A Night Of Revelry Under The Big Top

Circus Flora’s Annual Flora Dora Gala to be held Saturday, May 30th

ST.LOUIS, MO – Step inside a Speakeasy peopled with amazing aerialists, jazz artists, equestrians, and maybe a bootlegger or two, at the 2015 Flora Dora Gala on May 30th. The event, a benefit for Circus Flora’s year-round outreach programs, will be held at the Big Top. The Gala begins at 6:30 p.m. with a cocktail hour and activities befitting a Speakeasy, followed by a one-night-only performance.

The Gala’s Speakeasy theme is a playful extension of the Big Top production, “One Summer on 2nd Street,” running May 28 – June 28 in Grand Center. Gala guests will be greeted by characters from the 1920s as they enjoy specialty cocktails and bid on unique silent auction items, including original artwork. Password in hand, guests will then enter the Speakeasy itself to feast on a gourmet three-course dinner by Butler’s Pantry. A special performance and live auction under the Big Top follow at 8:30 p.m. The festivities continue with dancing under the Big Top until 11:00 p.m.

Jill McGuire, one of the Chairs of the 2015 Gala, says “Flora Dora is an incredibly unique opportunity to benefit a wonderful organization and have fun at the same time. You have a front row seat for amazing performances, while helping fund some truly wonderful community programs.” Event Chair Darryl Sagel continues, “St. Louis is fortunate to be one of a small handful of cities in the country with its own theatrical circus – and one that people of all ages can enjoy together. The Gala is the organization’s big fundraising event of the year, and a chance for the community to show its support for this St. Louis tradition.”

Proceeds benefit Circus Flora’s community outreach programs, including the year-round “Clowns on Call” program in two area children’s hospitals; “Share the Circus” ticket donation program; and “Tumbling & Teamwork” circus skills training for youth with learning and socialization challenges.

Individual tickets are on sale now for $250; tables of 10 begin at $2,500. For more information and to purchase tickets, contact the Director of Develop-ment, Susan Mintz, at [email protected] or 314.289.4043.

Avoid These Fuel Issues With Your MowerNo matter how much you love mowing your lawn, there’s always something special about that first cut in the spring. It’s that initial opportunity to bring your lawn back to life after winter’s frigid temperatures finally give way to warmth. And operating a lawnmower instead of a snow blower can be deeply satisfying. But what if you’re out in your yard, ready to cut the grass and your mower won’t start?

Before you get worried and start to consider serious problems with your mower, take a deep breath. The solution could be far simpler. Instead of a problem with your mower, it could be a problem with your fuel. To prevent fuel issues from ruining your first cut of the season, keep these tips from Toro in mind.

Keep ethanol use to a minimumEthanol is gaining popularity at the pump and many new vehicles are adapt-able to this fuel change. Most engines produced to date for use in outdoor power equipment are not designed for gasoline with more than 10 percent ethanol (such as E15, E20 and E85); using higher ethanol fuel blends may lead to engine damage and/or performance issues. Before you insert a fuel into your engine read the engine operator’s manual and equipment operator’s manual for information on what fuel can, and cannot, be used in your machine and to understand applicable warranty coverage and exclusions.

When obtaining fuel for your mower, look for ethanol-free options that are at least 87 octane. If you must use an ethanol fuel, look for options where the ethanol content level is less than 10 percent and at least 87 octane.

Keep your fuel freshFuel that has been sitting inside your mower’s fuel tank since last season should be emptied and replaced unless you have treated it with a fuel treatment. While it’s best to purchase only a one month supply of fuel, Toro’s Premium Fuel Treatment can keep fuel fresh for up to 12 months when you add one ounce for every two gallons of fuel. It also protects your fuel from corrosion and cleans the intake valves and carburetor varnish.

Know where to look for help If you have any questions regarding the right fuel to use in your mower, the owner’s manual is an invaluable resource. Consult it and you’ll learn more about the mower, its motor and any applicable warranties. Owner’s manuals can be accessed at Toro.com. You can also find out more information about your mower by visiting the company’s website.

A mower that doesn’t start can be a discouraging beginning to mowing season, but it isn’t always a sign of larger problems. Sometimes the most obvious solu-tion is also the simplest. The problem with your mower may not be the machine itself but the fuel inside.
