Join the Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel (FDCC) at the 14th Annual Corporate Counsel Symposium, “A New World View: How Corporate Counsel Understand Risk.” This year’s CCS will again be held in Philadelphia at Hotel Sofitel, beginning on Sunday afternoon at 3:00 pm, September 17 and ending at noon on Tuesday, September 19, 2017.

The program will commence with a presentation on best practices for E-discovery in light of the recent federal rule amendments and the impact on companies and their attorneys, especially when it comes to managing discovery. The Honorable Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr., an attorney who served as the 60th governor of Maryland from 2003 to 2007, will then provide an overview of what we can expect from inside the beltway between now and 2020. Having served as Governor, U.S. Congressman, state legislator, and civil litigator counseling clients on an array of government matters, including health care, finance and economic development, Governor Ehrlich can offer a unique perspective on things to come. Sunday afternoon will conclude with an all-star panel focusing on diversity and inclusion in the courtroom. As Courts are now encouraging law firms and their clients to have first chairs filled by women and minorities, this is a topic of vital importance to in-house and outside counsel alike.

Other topics presented at the Symposium will address legal issues we can anticipate from some of the policies that have come out of the White House and Capitol Hill, and those that may lie ahead. These will be addressed by members of the C-Suite and General Counsel from companies doing business around the globe. Monday, you will hear from the Honorable Michael Mukasey, a lawyer and former federal judge who served as the 81st Attorney General of the United States, appointed by President George W. Bush following the resignation of Alberto Gonzales. Tuesday you will hear from the new Chairman of the National Labor Relations Board.

Presenters include highly respected in-house counsel from companies such as AT&T, Boston Scientific Corporation, FedEx, Ford Motor Company, Pfizer, Inc., TE Connectivity Corporation and Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. Outside counsel, academics, and government representatives will also be among the excellent slate of speakers we have assembled.

Who Should Attend

• Corporate counsel who are responsible for law department or litigation management

• Executives involved in corporate risk management and human resources

• Risk Managers

• FDCC outside counsel members

You will have the opportunity to connect and network with the best and the brightest in-house and outside counsel, and dine at some of the finest restaurants in Center City Philadelphia.

The CCS is celebrated as the preeminent conference for corporate coun-sel and outside defense counsel in America. We are again offering com-plimentary registration to all in-house counsel. Due to the overwhelming response to this new policy last year, space may be at a premium for this year’s event. Therefore, we recommend you register early to ensure your spot at the CCS (and for a room at the hotel). We strongly encourage our outside counsel FDCC members to attend with a corporate counsel client and extend your invitations early before registration closes.
