Adopt-a-Street Report March 6 March was a slow month for volunteering to clean up our Adopt-A-Spot. Windsor Babson and his wife Ramona were joined with Bob Vann, Jim Villers and Don LaBar and his girls to collect the refuse dis-carded by littering drivers. By 9:30, the street was clean and the group headed out with the satisfaction that we had given a little back to our community. Join us for our next clean-up on May 15.

MBCA Summerfest High Performance Driving Event at NCCAR - June 4 On June 4, 2016 the MBCA Virginia Section will host a High Speed Driving Event on North Caro-lina’s Center for Automotive Research’s road course. This road course is ideally situated in Garysburg, NC and features a 40 feet wide bi-directional freshly paved road course with a ½ mile straightaway, 11 constant radius turns and large grassy run-off areas. There is no competition for times or trophies but a lot of fun to be had. Virtually any car is fully capable of handling this type of event. You must have a valid driver's license to attend. Your personal mechanic must perform a technical safety inspection before you leave home. All you need to bring is the competed technical safety in-spection form and a Snell SA2010 or later helmet. If you do not have a helmet, a few loaner helmets will be available on a first come, first served basis. This event is open to all makes and models and you do not have to be a MBCA club member to partici-pate. There will be a full day of track time and class-room instruction with 4-5 sessions in a non-timed HPDE set up. Car sharing is allowed with separate registration for each driver. This event will fill very quickly, so you will need to place your entry soon. The price for this full day at the race track is $169 for MBCA members and non-members. We have a block of rooms reserved at the discounted rate of $89 per night. Just call and mention the "Mercedes Benz Club." Hilton Garden Inn, 111 T Carolina Crossroads Pkwy, Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870, 252-519-2333 For more information, contact Don LaBar at 757-620-6772.

Driveway Report - April 9 What a fun gathering. We gathered in Jim Villers' garage on Saturday, April 9, for the first Driveway Mechanics Session of the year. The weather was per-fect but attendance was slim, the lowest attendance in many years. Coffee was in great demand as were the donuts brought by Roy Wiley. The sole project of the day was brought by Steve Brooks. His 1995 S500 had a bulb problem which was corrected by installing a new zeon front head-light bulb and a new tail light bulb. Not exactly a challenging repair task. As a few more members arrived, the group inspected a the 1950 Willys CJ3A “Jeep” that Jim Villers was restoring. The restoration is almost complete except for the engine which is back at the Abacus machine shot to investigate a low oil pressure issue. The attendees included Roy Wiley, Bobby Ross, Charles Winsted, Dwight Finnie, George McQuain, Tom Dawson, Bob Vann and Jim Villers

After our heads filled with American and Old World Culture we followed up our day with a short drive to the O'Connor Brewing Company for some beer tasting

.Bulbs and Brew Tour Re-port - March 26 We began our adventures on a slightly windy morning in Norfolk Virginia with a tour of the Hermitage House main gardens. Don Labar drove in with his rather interesting 250 C. Unfortunately we did get to see a lot of bulbs and not a lot of blooming, but still very beautiful.

After our guided tour of the grounds and shore-line we then toured of the house itself. There we fell in love with the beautiful wood cravings throughout the Sloane family's residence and mu-seum. Our guide took us back to a much simpler time in history and regaled the generous events that the Sloane family would host in their home for the servicemen stationed in the local area. It was easy to see Mrs. Sloan's passion for art and all things of beauty, from the gardens to wood carvings on the dinning room doors. I won't give away all of the secrets, but be sure to listen care-fully to your guide if you should visit for the con-

and a quick tour of the brewery and its operations. The Bold Man Oyster Stout went down way to easily that afternoon as did the Haulin' Oats Oatmeal Stout (creamy chocolate roasted coffee bean finish), so we decided it was one and done. However, that didn't stop any of us from picking up a few bottles to go. In atten-dance Don Labar, Dwight and Tina Finnie, Tom Daw-son, Vince and Diane, and Steve Turner in his suave SLK 350

Rivers Inn Drive-N-Dine May 20

Fredericksburg Drive, Dine, and Tour Report - April 2 2016 What started out as a cool and rainy morning, evolved into a delightful drive, dine, and some great site seeing. Those who signed up and didn't come missed a good event. Those that did were Steve Turner, Tom Dawson, Jerry and Ann Schonfeld and their granddaughters Allie and Anna, Renate and Michael Junge, Carla Rice and her father who lives in Fredericksburg, Bert and Bob Goodman, Paul and Bessie Arnold, and Dwight and Tina Finnie. We arrived at the Bavarian Chef for a German feast after a two and a half hour drive thru some beautiful countryside. Every one ordered off the menu and all said they had a good meal. After lunch we jumped on a site seeing trolley reserved just for our group. We got one and a half hours of very interesting sites and history. Many of the buildings dated back to the sixteen and seventeen hundreds. At the end of the tour we walked around in the Olde Towne area and then drove home
