WELCOME Dear Competitors, Officials, Family members and Supporters alike,

It really is a great privilege and pleasure for me to say a few words of welcome in this Bulletin.

These Worlds in Tenerife under the banner of the Canary Islands Water Ski Federation and the guidance of the Spanish Federation, represent the third time that “Spain” has hosted this major event, the first time was in 1985 in the Barcelona area, then in 1999 we were in Oropesa del Mar, and now after a second interval of 14 years, we are being greeted in Costa Adeje on the southern coast of Tenerife.

I am confident that all the commitment shown, genuine enthusiasm and sheer hard work being put into the execution of these Championships by the Organising Team in Tenerife under the ever watchful eye of Luis Mussach, back in Barcelona, but in regular contact, will produce a wonderful event and provide excellent competition for Water Ski Racing of the highest calibre.

Early indications suggest that we are likely to see around 70 skiers taking part across the six skiing categories, and the 3 team competitions, so the stage is set for a truly great event.

On behalf of the IWWF Region Europe and Africa Racing Council, and on my own behalf I extend a very warm welcome to Tenerife to everyone involved either as a competitor or supporter, and the officials and World Council Members. I wish you all a splendid time in Tenerife and a very enjoyable, challenging and successful World Championships.

Yours in water ski racing

Mike Waterman

President, IWWF Region Europe & Africa Racing Council
