Chesterfield-Ruby Middle School 14445 Highway 9 Chesterfield, SC 29709 843-623-9401 From the Desk of the Principal… The second nine weeks has come to a close, and the third nine weeks is in full swing. Many of our students did very well during the second nine weeks grading period. In fact, 83 CRMS students made the “All A” honor roll, while 115 students made the “A/B” honor roll. Making the honor roll is a great achievement, and these students should be very proud of themselves for their accomplishments. I encourage students to continue to push themselves to do even better this quarter. Never settle! Always strive to improve! We want to see even more students make the honor roll for the next two grading periods, but more importantly, we want to see students striving to do the best that they can! *********************************** ******Mrs. Cassidy’s Counselor’s Corner CRMS will be hosting our annual Career Fair on Thursday, February 16th. thanks to your support! We reached our goal, so all students who participated will be receiving a treat in the near future. Profits from the book fair are used to purchase new books and reading incentives.

Students have until Feb. 17th to read at least five books from the same list, either CBA or JBA nominees to qualify for the Reading Celebration trip in March.

The library is sponsoring two contests in the short month of February. Our school reading goal is 250,000 pages for the month. Prizes will be distributed to the students who read the most pages, classes who read the most pages and teachers/staff who read the most pages. We are also honoring Black History Month by encouraging our students to read a book with an African-American main character, author, or illustrator. Prizes will be awarded weekly and at the end of the month.

We completed a donorschoose.org grant, and in less than one week the grant was funded and the materials arrived!! We received new supplies for our Maker/Logic Space weeks in the library.

Mr. Harris is the Teacher Feature. This is his 3rd year teaching 6th/7th grade social studies at CRMS. Students feel that Mr. Harris is a helpful teacher.  He makes learning fun, but he’s also serious.  He has a great sense of humor and always makes them laugh.

Matthews’ Medical Minute :Tdap Vaccine available for rising 7th graders

A Tdap vaccine is now required by all 6th grade students who will be entering the seventh grade next school year. Our school is working closely with the health department to offer this vaccine at school sometime in March. Consent forms will be sent home within the next 2 weeks with those students who need the vaccine. If you would like your 6th grader to receive this shot at school, please complete the consent form when your child brings it home and send it back to school as soon as possible. Further details about the vaccine and when it will be given at school will be sent home with individual students.
