Prerequisites
Saxon Phonics Intense, systematic phonics program
Taught daily
Lessons are build on each day so attendance is
important. Lessons are not retaught due to absences.
Parents can reinforce concepts by helping their child
complete the homework sheet. (back)
Practice readers will be sent home to reinforce the skills
taught. Please read the comprehension questions on the
back to help extend knowledge.
Listen to your child read daily! (Fluency is key)
First Saxon test will be the13th of September
Every Friday following
Spelling lists will be sent home every Monday in their
binders.
Guided Reading Levels &
Fluency Students are expected to be reading on a Level J with a
minimum of 60 words per minute. The state of Texas
recommends 110 words per minute to be successful on
STAAR.
By the end of the first semester, students should be reading at a
Level E
