Commit One Sacrificial Hour Per Week during Lent to save lives
Adoration for Vocation: Jesus commanded us to pray for vocations with his words, "Pray, therefore, the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his vineyard" Mt. 9:38. We will be having hours of adoration of the Most Holy Eucharist to ask God for more vo-cations to the priestly and religious life. The adoration will be every first Saturday of the month, from March to June, from 6:45pm-7:45pm. The first one will be on March 5th. Posters about these events will be posted soon. Our first Sunday of Lent is always a wake-up call to the call to conversion through repentance of our sins. The pillars of fasting, almsgiving and prayer are given to us to jolt us out of our normal patterns as we walk with our Lord Jesus.
In Rediscovering Jesus, Matthew Kelly challenges us to get to know the person of Jesus and to begin to build a stronger relationship with him as a friend. On the second day (chapter 2) of the meditation he asks us to take a brief inventory of everything we know about Jesus. It is amazing how small the list can be if we think about it.
It is when we take time and inventory our relationship with Jesus (God) that we then hear the question from day four with a heart ready to respond. We are able, with honesty and courage, to focus on the true questions of life and share in the divine mercy lived in the heart of Jesus.
During Lent we continue to focus carefully on the Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy as we enter into the sacrificial calling of discipleship in and through Jesus Christ. It is important that all of our works, almsgiving and fasting, find their foundation in our prayerful conversation with Jesus. Es cuando tomamos el tiempo y el inventario de nuestra relación con Jesús (Dios) que escuchamos la pregunta del cuatro día con un corazón dispuesto a responder. Somos capaces, con honestidad y valor, darle atención a las verda-deras preguntas de la vida y compartir en la divina misericordia vivido en el corazón de Jesús.
Durante la Cuaresma seguimos enfocados cuidadosamente en las obras espirituales y corporales de la misericordia mientras entramos en la vocación de sacrificio del discipulado a través de Jesucristo.
