 Thirty years ago, ABB introduced MNS as the rst arc contained Low Voltage

switchboard design based on separated unctional areas.

In 1983, the rst modular designed ully withdrawable MNS switchboard was

delivered.

Seven years later, in 1990, the Intelligent Motor Control System (IMCS) with INSUM

was the rst switchboard including electronic protection and control devices and

communication interaces.

Following the long series o innovations during the past thirty years, in 2005 ABB

now comes up with the rst integrated Low Voltage MCC system, the MNS iS.

Scalable and congurable control modules cover conventional to advanced motor

starter control schemes and protection requirements. Hereby the control scheme

is totally independent rom the power module. Thus the upgrade o control equipment

can be carried out without any change within the starter module throughout the

lietime o the switchboard.

Wiring ree control scheme or starter modules allow internal hardwiring or input / 

output assignment to module being obsolete.

Even new technologies can be implemented ensuring the Motor Control Center

remains uture proo. Open communication and Web Browser-based Human

System Interaces are open or adaptation to uture requirements.
