Bi-lateral Sports EventMeet at Misawa International Sports Center

The Airman and Family Readiness Center and Exceptional Family Member Program will join Misawa City and the City Sports Promotion Committee

for the 2nd Annual Misawa International Sports Festival. Ages six and older are invited to try a variety of sporting activities. Please bring indoor shoes. Advance registration is recommended at the Airman & Family Readiness

Center.

Bundles for BabiesBundles for Babies is designed to teach soon-to-be and new parents basic

parenting skills, as well as essential financial skills to help budget for their new baby, from birth to college. This class is a great opportunity to connect

with other expectant parents on base. Bundles for Babies is open to all ranks and services and is not limited to a first pregnancy.

Meet at Mokuteki BallroomThe Cultural City Tour is a guided tour conducted every Friday around

Misawa City and Hachinohe City. Attendees will visit the Zuisenji Temple, Misawa International Center, Miss Veedol Plaza, Hachinohe Fish Market and

the Kushihiki Shrine.

Employment 2-Day TrackThis track is presented by the Department of Labor for individuals

planning on seeking employment immediately after separating from the military. This track assists members with resume writing, interview skills,

networking, labor market information and federal employment. Upon completion of this track members will have a targeted resume. Spouses

and High School aged students welcome.

Exceptional Family Member Program Orientation

The three components of the Exceptional Family Member Program (Medical, Assignments and Family Support) invite you to attend an EFMP

Base-level Orientation. This seminar will reduce confusion and stress about participating in EFMP. We will explain the EFMP process and show you

how to navigate the program. You will discover resources and partnerships you might not have suspected were there for you. Although primarily for

newly Q-coded members and families who recently enrolled in EFMP, we welcome all community members to attend. Spouses are highly

encouraged to attend. If you have questions, we have answers.

Grocery Shopping in JapanJoin us for grocery shopping in Japan and more! Not only will we be

learning how to navigate the grocery store and sign up for a points card, but we will also visit a local drug store and home center to learn about

Japanese culture. Please bring yen for purchases and a shopping bag if you have one. Children are allowed.

Home Buying SeminarParticipants are welcome to bring their lunches to this lunch and learn! We

will have guest speakers from NFCU staff and our VA Rep. This workshop provides information about how to prepare for home ownership, tips to increase your financial knowledge about buying a home, types of

mortgage loans, prequalification versus preapproval, loan process and what VA Home Loans offers for service members.

How Can I Know if My Child is Learning?Part of the EFMP Empowering Partnerships Series, this workshop explores

meaningful measures of learning. Parents will examine ideas about learning and what measurements provide the best evidence of learning.

Japanese Cooking DemoLearn about seasonal Japanese ingredients and how to make a Japanese

dish. We will be making ramen and gyoza, and you can enjoy a sampling of the finished dish.

Navigating USAJOBS/Writing a Federal ResumeAre you interested in applying for federal employment? USAJobs is the federal government’s official employment website. If you would like to learn how to build a federal resume in USAJobs and navigate the site, call 226-4735 to sign up!

NEO 101Are you ready for an NEO? Non-combatant Evacuation Operations 101 is an Air Force Aid Society event and will familiarize all non-military U.S. citizens on our evacuation control center and evacuation preparation. There will be a discussion about evacuation notification, an explanation of the NEO folder, and a question and answer session. Participants are encouraged to bring their NEO Folder. Advance registration is recommended.

Newcomer’s Orientation: Right StartRight Start is newcomer’s in-processing briefing and information for new military and civilian personnel assigned to Misawa AB. Members MUST be in-processed with their unit INTRO Program managers before attending Right Start. Members will report in uniform to the Mokuteki Ballroom at 7:15 a.m. for in-processing, completion of required paperwork and briefings about available community resources. Spouses are highly encouraged to attend.

Retirement Planning StarterThis course prepares Airmen to make responsible decisions about their TSP contributions as they become vested in TSP. Airmen will receive a notification prior to reaching two years time in service based on Pay Entry Based Date (PEBD). This training is required when an Airman reaches two years service and is under the BRS.

Smooth MoveSmooth Move is the outbound briefing to assist military members transitioning/PCS-ing out of Misawa. Subject matter experts will update members on the latest policy changes that may impact their move. Out-processing information, relocation planning, and financial resources are also provided.

Survival Japanese 2-Day CourseDay One: Japanese language introduction with pronounciation practice and numbersDay Two: Survival Japanese phrases and conversation practice with JASDF friendsLearn the basics and need-to-know Japanese phrases with a Japanese speaking instructor. Must attend both classes. Children are allowed.

Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) – Lunch & Learn InformationSeminar: 11:30 a.m. –12:30 p.m.Q&A: 12:30–1 p.m.This workshop offers information about TSP and different fund options.

Vocational 2-Day TrackThe vocational workshop offers a unique opportunity to identify skills, increase awareness of training and credentialing programs, and develop an action plan to achieve career goals. Members will complete personalized career development assessments of occupational interest, aptitudes and work value that will provide them with a variety of tailored job recommendations. Facilitated by the Department of Labor. Spouses and High School aged students welcome.
