Delphi was at the heart of the classical Greek world, and considered the center of earth and the universe.Don't miss the chance to see the amazing cliff-top monasteries of Meteora. This two-day organized tour from Athens takes you also across the scenic Plain of Thessaly to Kalambaka and one of the most important groups of Greek Orthodox monasteries in Greece. The monasteries are perched on top of towers of sandstone, which for centuries provided totally inaccessible retreats for the monks.

Itinerary:Day 1: Delphi - MeteoraMorning departure from Athens and drive through the region of Veotia. We will pass through Thebes and Levadia, and our professional tour guide will narrate, at the same time, stories about the famous legends, such as king Oedipus. Moreover, the guide will illustrate about the evidence of human existence dated 12.000 BC.Passing through the picturesque village of Arachova will arrive at Delphi, “the Navel of the Earth”. In the afternoon depart through Central Greece crossing the Thessalian plain, to Kalambaka (a small town built at the foot of the majestic grey rocks, and crowded by the Meteora Monasteries. Overnight in Kalambaka.

Day 2: Meteora - AthensLeave in the morning for nearby Meteora for a tour of the cliff-top monasteries to visit two different Byzantine Monasteries* built on top of rock towers and providing fantastic views over the plain. Return to Athens passing by the heroic monument of Leonidas king of Sparta in Thermopylae. Departure for Athens in the afternoon and return back to your hotel.
