    Power Problems

    SPIKESSharp increases in electrical

energy reaching as high as 600volts and lasting up to ½ second.

Spikes are caused by lightning, fluorescentlighting, air conditioners, copy machines, elevators, etc., resulting in data error and/orhardware damage.

    6/77

    Power Problems

    NOISEHigh frequency interference

    appearing on the AC line

Noise is caused by static, transformers, faulty

light fixtures, broadcast equipment, autoignitions, appliances, etc., resulting in garbleddata, keyboard lockups, and semiconductordamage.

    Power Problems

    SAGS/SURGES

    Short duration changesin voltage levels.

Sags or Surges are caused by the startup of

electric motors, air conditioners, transformers, machine shops, utility switching, etc., resultingin data errors, equipment overheating, andpremature equipment failures.

    Power Problems

    BROWNOUTSLong duration decrease in

    voltage (20% or more).

Brownouts are usually caused by peak period

overloads, power network switching, faultywiring, etc., resulting in data loss, hardwaredamage, and equipment overheating.

    Power Problems

    BLACKOUTS

    Complete Loss of power.

Blackouts are caused by downed power lines,

open circuit breakers, power plant failures, etc., resulting in complete data loss, hardwaredamage, and equipment overheating.

What Does Alpha Offerto the AC UPS Market?

  • 8/17/2019 2_ Indoor Ups Solutions

    21/77

Indoor vs. Outdoor Product Alpha provides long run time products for two main

markets: indoor and rugged or outdoorapplications:

Indoor Applications: applications with controlledenvironment, mostly free of dust, and where the

temperature is between 0 and 40 ºCOutdoor/Rugged Applications: Applications wherethere may be one or all of:

    •Extreme temperatures

    •High humidity•Dust

    •Vibration

  • 8/17/2019 2_ Indoor Ups Solutions

    Key Features of Outdoor/Rugged UPS

    • Made of rugged electric and electronic components:due to the fact that the UPS is designed for extremeconditions, the elements that make the UPS are alsodesigned for extreme conditions.

    • Thermostatically controlled battery heater mats available

    • Temperature compensation utilized to effectively managethe battery charge voltage based on temperature

    • Conformal coated PCBs protect against exposure to moisture and high humidityenvironment

    • Designed to operate under extreme temperature conditions (-40°C to +74°C)

    • Remote monitoring via SNMP web-based communication

    • Built-in AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulation) allows for a wider input voltage rangefor world-wide use

    • Enhanced surge protection capability (TVSS – Transient Voltage SurgeSuppressor, LAP – Lightning Arrestor Protection)

    • Enclosures meet specific ingress protection (IPXX) standard for extremeenvironments (Zone 4 earthquake, rain test, dust, impact test, etc)

Tri Power X33 HE uses online double conversion (VFI) technology where the load is always powered by the

inverter ensuring a filtered and stabilized sinusoidal voltage manufactured with the state of the art IGBT rectifier

technology. Offering high efficiency values up to 96.5% even in part load situations saves money on electricity bills

protecting at the same time our enviroment with less CO2 consumption. Light weight and small footprint allows

easy, space saving and low cost installation. The 0.9 output power factor provides up to 15% more active power than

a traditional UPS and more load expansion. TRI X33 HE UPS systems are ideal for the protection of critical

information and telecommunications networks which can not run the risk of being powered from a poor quality

    electrical supply.

Parallel Operation ( up to 8 units)

X33 HIPs may be connected in a parallel configuration to increase both the reliability of thepower supply to the load and the power available in output. Up to 8 UPSs can be parallel-connected. It isrecommended to connect units of the same power. The load that can be applied to a system with several unitsconnected in parallel may be greater than the load that can be supported by each individual unit, thanks toautomatic power sharing. The reliability is only increased provided that the total power of the system with one unitdeactivated remains greater than the required power. This condition can be achieved by always adding aredundant unit. Having a redundant unit means having one more UPS than the minimum number of elementsrequired to power the load, so that if a faulty unit is automatically excluded
