Freshman Aaryn Ellenberg is having a break-out season as she ranks second on the squad with 17.4 ppg. and shoots 42.6 percent from behind the arc. Redshirt sophomore Whitney Hand, who has only played in 11 games so far this year after miss-ing the beginning of the season recovering from a knee injury, contributes 13.0 ppg. Head Coach Sherri Coale is in her 15th sea-son at Oklahoma and has a 330-149 record with the team.

LAST TIME OUT The University of Missouri women’s basket-ball team led by as many as 12 in the second half but could not hold on as the Kansas State Wildcats earned a comeback 60-55 overtime victory Satur-day afternoon at Mizzou Arena. With Mizzou leading by 12 points, 47-35, the Wildcats reeled off a 13-1 run, thanks to four con-secutive three-pointers by Brittany Chambers, to cut Missouri’s advantage to 49-48 and 3:42 left. Junior Christine Flores hit one-of-two free throws with 3:04 remaining to put the Tigers on top 50-48 but Kansas State used a layup from Mariah White at the 1:35 mark to knot the score at 50-50. Neither team managed to score in the fi nal minute of regulation to send the contest to overtime. A layup from sophomore Sydney Crafton gave the Tigers a 52-50 advantage with 3:15 left but Kansas State scored the next eight points to build a 58-52 lead and 27 seconds on the clock. Brown nailed a three-pointer 11 seconds later to make it a one possession game but the Wildcats hit two free throws and Mizzou could not fi nd the bottom of the basket as Kansas State pulled out the 60-55 overtime victory.

BROWN TIES STEALS RECORD With three steals against Kansas State on Feb. 5, senior RaeShara Brown tied Missouri’s all-time record with 248 in her career. Brown, who is tied with former Tiger great Joni Davis, needs just one more to break the career mark. Brown led the Big 12 in steals the last two seasons, after outputs of 88 a year ago and 79 during her sophomore season. The totals rank third and eighth on Mizzou’s single-season list.

PINGETON ONE AWAY FROM 350Head Coach Robin Pingeton enters Satur-

day’s contest with a career head coaching record of 349-169 and needs just three more wins to reach the 350 mark. Her 349 wins have come at both the NCAA Division I and NAIA Division II level. Pingeton compiled 194 wins at St. Ambrose (NAIA), 144 at Illinois State and 11 so far at Mis-souri.

JONES FINISHING SENIOR SEASON STRONG Senior Shakara Jones has been one of the Tigers’ most consistent offensive weapons this year. The forward ranks third on the team at 10.3 ppg. and has already reached double fi gures a ca-reer high 16 times this year (her previous high was 15, set her freshman and sophomore seasons). Jones started off the season up and down but has been a constant for the last two months of the season. In MU’s fi rst nine games, she aver-aged just 8.2 ppg. and 5.4 rpg. However, since the contest against NJIT on Dec. 19, Jones has aver-aged 11.7 ppg. and 6.4 rpg. During the last 14 games, she has reached double fi gures 12 times, second only to RaeShara Brown’s 13.

TOUGH ROAD The Tigers enter Saturday’s game with a 11-12 overall record despite playing one of the nation’s toughest schedules to this point. As of Feb. 8, Mizzou’s strength of schedule (SOS) ranks eighth in the nation by RealTimeRPI.com. Missouri’s SOS trails just Duke, Connecticut, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Stanford, Ohio State and Baylor. It is ahead of such perenial powers as, Notre Dame (24) and Michigan State (57). Below is a list of Big 12 teams’ SOS, along with Ratings Percent Index (RPI), based on wins and losses and SOS. points for the Tigers with less than three minutes remaining. With Mizzou holding a slim 61-60 lead, Brown started her points spree from a jumper and 2:57 left in the game. During the stretch, which included two shot clock buzzer beaters and four free throws, Missouri increased its lead to seven points, 73-66, and 29 seconds remaining.

THORNTON PROVIDING KEY DEPTH Sophomore Trenee Thornton has upped her scoring in recent games, thanks in part to in-creased minutes. She did not score against Kan-sas State on Feb. 5 but in the four games before that, the guard averaged 5.8 ppg. after outputs of seven points (Nebraska), six (Kansas) and fi ve (Colorado and Iowa State). In the fi rst 16 games she played this year before the Colorado contest, Thornton averaged just 0.9 ppg. She has also seen her playing time jump dra-matically since Big 12 play started. She averaged 9.9 mpg. in Mizzou’s 14 non-conference contests and has played 20.3 mpg. in the Tigers’ nine con-ference games.

REIGNING IN THE TURNOVERS The Tigers entered the Jan. 19 game averag-ing 18.5 turnovers per game, including outputs of 26 and 27 against Texas Tech and Texas A&M on Jan. 12 and 15, respectively. Missouri has managed to hold on to the ball in its last six games, committing just 13.2 turnovers during the span. The team committed just 12 turn-overs in consecutive games against Kansas State on Jan. 19 and Colorado on Jan. 22, 15 against Kansas on Jan. 26, 14 at Iowa State on Jan. 29 and a season low 10 against Nebraska on Feb. 2.

JONES REACHES POINTS MILESTONE Senior Shakara Jones became the 28th player in MU history to reach 1,000 points when the forward accomplished the feat against UC Riv-erside on Dec. 21. She now stands at 1,145 career points after notching 11 points against Nebraska to rank 21st all-time. She needs 17 more points to pass Kerensa Barr (00-03) and move into 20th. Jones is averaging 10.3 ppg. in 2010-11 after posting marks of 10.5 ppg. as a freshman, 10.3 ppg. as a sophomore and 9.1 ppg. as a junior.

BROWN NOW IN ASSISTS TOP-10 Senior RaeShara Brown’s entered Mizzou career top-10 assists list after dishing out 12 against UAB on Dec. 29. After recording one on Feb. 5 against Kansas State, she stands in sev-enth-place on the list with 305. She needs 10 more to tie Natalie Bright for sixth on the list. Brown is averaging 4.7 apg. on the season. If she continues on her current pace, she should end her career with about 349 assists, which would rank fourth in Tiger history.

FLORES BLOCKING UP THE LIST Junior Christine Flores stands in eighth-place on MU’s all-time blocks list with 109 after a two-block performance against Kansas State on Feb. 5. She needs seven more to tie Stretch James (03-04) for seventh on the list. Flores has 49 blocks so far this year, which ranks seventh on MU’s single-season list. She needs four more to tie Mary Brueggestrass (82-83) for sixth on the list with 53.

GAME OF RUNS Missouri used to key scoring runs against Kansas to put away the Jayhawks and earn the 66-52 victory on Jan. 26. The Tigers trailed 25-18 in the fi rst half when a jumper from Junior BreAnna Brock jumpstarted a 12-0 run for Mizzou. Missouri grabbed a 30-25 lead thanks to the scoring spree, as senior Rae-Shara Brown had sixpoints in the run, while Brock had four. In the second half, Mizzou led by as many as eight before Kansas battled back to pull within one, 48-47, with 7:57 remaining in the game. The Tigers again found their offensive rythmyn and reeled off 15 consecutive points to take a 63-47 advantage with 2:52 left. Brown again led Missouri with six points during the stretch, while Brock had four, senior Jasmyn Otote had three and sophomore Sydney Crafton added two.

BROCK INTEGRAL TO BEATING JAYHAWKS Junior BreAnna Brock played a key role in MU’s win over Kansas on Jan. 26. The forward was a perfect 6-of-6 from the fl oor, grabbed eight rebounds, dished out an assist and nabbed a steal. For the season, Brock is averaging 3.8 ppg. and 3.5 rpg. while shooting 50.7 percent from the fi eld in 10.9 mpg. In Big 12 games, her output has increased to 5.3 ppg., 5.2 rpg. and 17.2 mpg. She’s shooting an even 50 percent from the fl oor in conference contests.

BROWN UNSTOPPABLE Senior RaeShara Brown was nearly unstop-pable in MU’s game at Kansas State on Jan. 19. The guard scored a career high 33 points on 12-of-19 shooting from the fl oor and 4-of-7 shoot-ing from behind the arc. Brown hit her fi rst fi ve shots against the Wild-cats and scored 13 of the Tigers fi rst 15 points. Overall, she had 18 of Mizzou’s 28 points in the fi rst half (64.3 percent) and 33 of the team’s 63 total points (52.4 percent). The total was the fi rst 30-point outing for a Mizzou player since EeTisha Riddle notched 31 points against Wyoming in the WNIT on March 18, 2007. Additionally, the 33 points were the most by a Tiger since LaToya Bond posted 34 points against Western Michigan on Dec. 29, 2005.

TIGERS WITH SECOND TOP-25 WIN THIS YEAR Mizzou’s 85-80 overtime victory over No. 22 Texas on Jan. 8 was the team’s second win over a ranked opponent this season. The Tigers also knocked off No. 12 Georgetown 54-45 in the Para-dise Jam on Nov. 26. The last time Missouri recorded at least two wins over ranked opponents was the 2000-01 season, when the squad picked up victories over No. 4 Georgia, No. 12/17 Texas, No. 17/21 Colo-rado and No. 24 Wisconsin.

MIZZOU STAGES COMEBACK Texas seemed fully in control on Jan. 8 as the Longhorns held a 72-60 advantage with two and a half minutes remaining in the game. But Mizzou staged a furious comeback in the fi nal minutes as the Tigers scored the last 12 points of regulation to send the game into overtime. Senior RaeShara Brown started the come-back with two free throws with 2:26 on the clock. Junior Christine Flores then scored eight straight points for the Tigers on a layup and two straight three-point plays, to get Mizzou within two, 72-70, with 58 seconds left. Senior Shakara Jones tied the score with 22 seconds remaining and Flores blocked two shots in the waning seconds to send the game into OT. In the extra session, the Tigers hit 4-of-6 shots from the fl oor and four free throws to earn the 85-80 victory.

OTOTE THE KEY? Senior Jasmyn Otote might be the key for Missouri to knock off top-25 teams. In each Miz-zou’s last three upsets over ranked squads, the guard has notched a career high in points. Otote fi rst set her then-personal best 12 points after sinking four three-pointers against No. 10 Baylor on Jan. 23, 2010. The Duncanville, Texas, native tied her then-career high against Georgetown on Nov. 26 as she hit three sec-ond half treys and three free throws to score 12 points. In MU’s 85-80 overtime win over No. 22 Tex-as on Jan. 8, Otote knocked in four three-pointers en route to a career best 14 points against the Longhorns.

SECOND HALF SHOOTING FUELS COMEBACK Missouri trailed Texas 33-29 at the half on Jan. 8 despite the Tigers shooting just 26.3 per-cent from the fl oor (to Texas’ 50.0 percent) in the fi rst frame. Mizzou turned aound its shooting in the sec-ond half as the team shot 57.7 percent from the fi eld (to Texas’ 39.0 percent) to propel the Tigers to come back and send the game to overtime. In the last two minutes of the game, Mis-souri made 4-of-5 shots from the fl oor while Texas missed its fi nal fi ve shots. The 57.7 percent Missouri shot in the second half stands as the second best single-half perfor-

mance this season, behind the 69.2 percent the team shot in the fi rst half against UAB on Dec. 29.

BROWN EARNS BIG 12 PLAYER OF THE WEEK Senior RaeShara Brown was named the Phil-lips 66 Big 12 Player of the Week on Jan. 10 after helping the Tigers to an 85-80 overtime upset win over No. 22/24 Texas on Jan. 8. The award, voted on by a media panel, marked the fi rst league honor in the senior’s career. Brown scored a career high 27 points along with six rebounds, fi ve assists and three steals in Missouri’s 85-80 overtime victory over No. 22/24 Texas. The guard registered 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the fl oor, four assists and three steals in the second half and extra period as the Tigers overcame a 12-point defi cit with under three min-utes left in regulation. She also played a career best 44 minutes during the contest. Earlier in the week, Brown she scored a team high 15 points, including three 3-pointers, and hand-ed out a game high seven assists in MU’s game against No. 9 Xavier. For the week Brown averaged 21.0 ppg, 6.0 apg, 5.5 rpg and 2.5 spg. Brown became the fi rst Mizzou player to earn Big 12 Player of the Week honors since EeTisha Riddle won the award in consecutive weeks on Dec. 4 and Dec. 11, 2006. Redshirt-junior Bekah Mills was the last Tiger to claim a weekly award after earning Big 12 Rookie of the Week honors on Dec. 15, 2008.

TIGERS PLAYED TOUGH NON-CON Mizzou played one of the Big 12’s toughest non-conference schedules this season, as the Ti-gers played four teams ranked in the top-25. MU’S four games ranked behind just Baylor’s fi ve games against top-25 foes. Iowa State and Texas each played three games, Kansas State played two and Oklahoma State, Texas A&M and Oklahoma one. Kansas, Texas Tech, Nebraska and Colorado did not face a ranked opponent. Additionally, Missouri was one of only four Big 12 schools to earn a win over a top-25 oppo-nent in non-conference action.

BROWN DISHES UP A STORM Senior RaeShara Brown dished out a career high 12 assists against UAB on Dec. 29. The total was the most for a Tiger player in almost 17 years, when Amy Fordham had 13 against Texas Tech on March 16, 1994. Brown also had 13 points in the game to record her fourth career double-double. Her 13 points and 12 rebounds marked the fi rst points-assists double-double for Missouri in almost 19 years, when Fordham had 11 points and 11 assists against Oklahoma on Feb. 8, 1992.

TIGERS DON’T MISS AGAINST UAB In the fi rst half against UAB on Dec. 29, Missouri made 18-of-26 shots from the fi eld for

a shooting percentage of 69.2 percent, by far the single-half high of the season. Before the game with the Blazers, Mizzou’s top single-half shooting percentage was 50 per-cent, which the Tigers accomplished in the sec-ond half against UMKC (14-28) and the fi rst half against UC Riverside (15-30). Overall, Missouri shot a season high 54 per-cent from the fl oor against UAB, besting its old high of 48.3 percent (29-60) against UMKC.

BEST HALF OUTING SINCE 2006-07 The Tigers shot a remarkable 69.2 percent in the fi rst half against UAB on Dec. 29, as the team made 18-of-26 shots from the fi eld in the opening 20 minutes. The shooting percentage was the best for Missouri in exactly four years. Against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Dec. 29, 2006, the Tigers shot 74.2 percent in the second half, making 23-of-31 shots from the fl oor.

FOURS WILD The Tigers had four players reach double fi g-ures in a four-game stretch from Dec. 11-29. Be-fore the game against UMKC on Dec. 11, Missouri had not had four players score in double fi gures during the fi rst eight games of the season. Five different players contributed to the dou-ble digit scoring:

12/11/10 - UMKC: Brock, Brown, Crafton, Flores12/19/10 - NJIT: Brock, Brown, Flores, Jones12/21/10 - UC Riverside: Brown, Crafton, Flores, Jones12/29/10 - UAB: Brown, Crafton, Flores, Jones

The last time MU had at least four players in double fi gures four consecutive games was the 2006-07 season:

11/21/06 - Stanford: Brooks, Hollins, Johnson, Riddle11/24/06 - Alabama: Brooks, Hollins, Riddle, Savant11/25/06 - Saint Mary’s: Brooks, Hardiek, Hollins, Savant12/2/06 - Creighton: Brooks, Jackson, Riddle, Savant

DEFENSE UP TO PAR Missouri had possibly its best all-around de-fensive effort against UT Martin on Dec. 7. The Tigers held the Skyhawks to just 30 points on 18.6 percent (11-59) shooting from the fl oor. Both were lows for Missouri opponents this season. The defense was especially impressive in the fi rst half, when UT Martin made just 5-of-31 shots from the fi eld to shoot 16.1 percent. Additionally, the Skyhawks had just fi ve points on the board more than 16 minutes into the game. The 18.6 percent UT Martin shot was the low-est opponent fi eld goal percentage since Mizzou held the same Skyhawks to 14.6 percent (7-48) shooting on Dec. 14, 2008.

MILLS SUFFERS ACL INJURYRedshirt-junior Bekah Mills suffered a season-end-ing knee injury when she tore the anterior cruciate ligament of her left knee in the fi rst half against No. 4 Tennessee on Nov. 25. Mills had started Mizzou’s fi rst three games at point guard. This marks Mills’ fourth total ACL injury but the fi rst on her left knee. She was forced to miss the 2007-08 and 2009-10 seasons due to the injuries.

BROWN NAMED TO ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM Senior RaeShara Brown was named to the Paradise Jam Reef Division All-Tournament Team after averaging 16.7 ppg. and 8.3 rpg. in the Ti-gers’ two contests. The 5-8 guard posted double-doubles against No. 4 Tennessee (18 points, 10 rebounds) and No. 12 Georgetown (17 points, 11 rebounds), while scoring 15 points against Georgia Tech. She was joined on the All-Tournament Team by Alex Montgomery (Georgia Tech), Meighan Simmons (Tennessee), Glory Johnson (Tennes-see) and Monica McNutt (Georgetown). The MVP was Sugar Rogers (Georgetown).

TIGERS UPSET NO. 12 GEORGETOWN Missouri earned its fi rst win of the season over a ranked opponent with a 54-45 victory over No. 12 Georgetown on Friday, Nov. 26. Senior RaeShara Brown had 17 points and 11 rebounds to record her third consecutive double-double. Junior Christine Flores and senior Jasmyn Otote both had 12 points, which tied Otote’s career high. Leading 39-38 with 7:48 left, Missouri scored 10 straight points on four free throws by Flores and back-to-back three-pointers by Otote to take an 11-point lead with just over fi ve minutes left. Georgetown tried to rally, scoring the next seven points to cut its defi cit to 49-45 on Adria Crawford’s two free throws with 1:06 left. The Tigers hit fi ve of their six free throws, in-cluding four by Brown, in the fi nal 63 seconds to seal the win.

MIZZOU CAN PULL THE UPSET The Tigers’ 54-45 victory over No. 12 Georgetown marked the sixth consecutive season Missouri has beaten a ranked opponent. Mizzou started the streak with a 65-61 win over defending national champion and No. 4 Bay-lor on Jan. 4, 2006.

CAREER RECORD15 years: 349-169 (.674)

On April 8, 2010, Robin Pingeton was named the fourth Head Women’s Basketball Coach at the University of Missouri. Pingeton, who has 15 years of head coaching experience, spent the last seven years as the head coach at Illinois State. “We are very excited to have someone the caliber of Robin Pingeton as our head women’s basketball coach at Mizzou,” Alden said. “Coach Pingeton is an outstanding fi t for our program, for the University, for the city of Columbia, and for our fan base. We are very confi dent that she will come in and develop a winning program and that she will do it the right way, with a sharp focus on our three core values of academic integrity, social responsibility and competitive excellence. This is an outstanding hire for Mizzou, and we are excited for our student-athletes, who stand to benefi t from her leadership.” “I am really excited about the opportunity at Missouri. This is a great place. Although I haven’t been here long the opportunity I have had to look around and meet people, it has been a lot of fun,” Pingeton said. “We have a lot of work ahead of us but we have never been afraid of hard work. It starts today. “I have so much respect for the Big 12, I think it is the best conference in the country for women’s basketball. We’re looking forward to the opportunity to building Missouri women’s basketball into something special.” In seven years at the helm of Illinois State, Pingeton amassed a 144-81 (.640) record and brought the Redbird program back to national prominence. During her tenure, she led the school to three straight Missouri Valley Conference Regular Season titles, two State Farm Missouri Valley Tournament championships, a school-best four straight 20-win seasons, two NCAA Tournament berths and three WNIT appearances en route to Missouri Valley Coach of the Year honors in 2004 and 2010. Over the past three seasons, Pingeton compiled an 81-23 (.779) mark to put together the best three-year span in Illinois State history. Last season Pingeton led the Redbirds to their third consecutive Missouri Valley Regular Season title, the semifi nals of the WNIT and a 28-8 record. In Illinois State’s WNIT run, the team earned wins over Butler, Purdue, Illinois and a 71-51 victory over Big 12 Conference rival Kansas. The 28 wins tied the 1980-81 Illinois State team for the most in program history and assured the team of at least 22 wins for the fourth straight year. Her efforts garnered Russell Athletic / Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Region Six Coach of the Year and Missouri Valley Coach of the Year accolades. Pingeton’s 2008-09 squad went 27-8 and had a 16-5 conference mark as the team earned its fi rst ever outright Missouri Valley Regular Season title and advanced to the WNIT semifi nals. One year earlier, the Redbirds went 26-7 to post the second-best winning percentage (.788) in school history, earned a trip to the NCAA Tournament and claimed the State Farm Missouri Valley Tournament title and a share of the regular season crown. In her fi rst year on the Illinois State sideline, Pingeton earned Missouri Valley Coach of the Year hon-ors after a 16-13 mark, the fi rst winning season for the Redbirds in seven seasons. The following year Illinois State earned its fi rst NCAA Tournament berth since 1989 after claiming the Missouri Valley Tournament Championship. Pingeton then led the team to a 22-11 record in 2006-07, Illinois State’s fi rst 20-win season since 1989-90. Familiar with the Big 12, Pingeton spent three seasons on Bill Fennelly’s staff at Iowa State, including the 2002-03 season as the associate head coach. During her time in Ames, Iowa State went 66-33, made two NCAA Tournament appearances and won the 2001 Big 12 Tournament title. Pingeton started her head coaching career at her alma mater, St. Ambrose, in 1992. In eight seasons, the Bees qualifi ed for fi ve NAIA National Tournaments, including Elite Eight berths in 1996 and 2000. Pingeton was named the conference coach of the year three times and the NAIA Kodak District Coach of the Year in 2000. A 1990 graduate of St. Ambrose, Pingeton stands as the school’s all-time scoring leader with 2,502 points, and earned All-America honors in both basketball and softball. She also played three seasons of professional basketball in the Women’s Basketball Association. Pingeton and her husband Rich are the parents of son Blake, born June 9, 2006.
