2010 Release One-Sheets
Album DescriptionI know we told you that Planets of Old was a vinyl only release… but then something happened… well several things happened: Cave In wound up with some real buttery footage of the band's reemergence in Allston, Mass, HHR was alerted to the fact that alternative versions to some of the tracks on the 12" existed, and then of course the rationalization that maybe people will still buy a CD if said CD is packaged with a DVD… Downloading videos through rapidshare still takes just a little too long you know what I mean and, so yeah, we're gonna try and capitalize on that a bit.
If this is the first time you've heard anything about this project… Planets of Old is Cave In's already acclaimed comeback EP… the first new material in nearly 4 years! The thing is genuinely jam-packed with bona fide jammers and the like… Discernible proof that these gentlemen haven't missed a step during their absence and that music, in the metaphorical sense, still hasn't caught up with them… Bold, but true… I'm out.

DESCRIPTION: __________________________________________________Previously known, to you likely too-savvy-for-your-own-good individuals, as the famous “Bob Weston Sessions”, Harvey Milk's s/t CD is a re-re-remastered version of the band's should-have-been debut record. The thing never received a proper release, so we over at Hydra Head decided to set the record straight… Sure, you could google search this piece now that you know it exists, but remember we got the re-re-remastered version and it sounds a hell of a lot more better… Plus if your purchase a copy from your local record store, you'll sleep a lot better tonight knowing that, among other things, your not a flithy liar and a dirty thief.
I can understand your hesitance however… It can get hairy digging up debut records from one your favorite bands… Especially if they've been around a while… I mean a lot of things can happen over the years… It would suck at this point to have to start explaining that Harvey Milk is your favorite band, but with the caveat that they're really only your favorite band from '94 on… Say things like that too much and your buddies slowly stop being your buddies and you end up with a whole new set of buddies, but these new buddies you never actually get to see in person and you know those pictures aren't really of their girlfriends. Good news: You can rest assured! Nothing is lost here, only gained. Harvey Milk is as heavy as ever and Creston Spiers, as most of you likely too-savvy-for-your-own-good individuals already know, was born with that particular seabitten brand of a man's voice that we're all so jealous of.

DESCIPTIVE TEXTIf your into Burzum-esque lo-fi black metal, and like... who isn't, then your already a massive Xasthur fan… And so, your already overwhelmingly aware of the fact that no outfit or individual in the Black Metal community, absolutely no one, is capable of reflecting and drawing the listener in to such a near tangible presence of distress… The Xasthur record in question, 2005 Demo, is two lost, completed demo tracks that were recorded prior to the time that Subliminal Genocide was… and in a sense these two previously unavailable recordings come across like a much belated extension of Subliminal Genocide. And that record rules, so that's good news, right? D E S C R I P T I V E T E X TJust when you get to the age where sitting in traffic and switching back and forth from the conservative to the liberal talk radio station sounds more appealing then sifting through the bush-league releases of the day, Daughters comes through with an untouchable new record absolutely snuffing out your now-so-surly being. Bumper to bumper, late for work, window down and more and more your thinking that a cigarette and a beer coupled with these stellar jams would end all right now!…
Because that is exactly the kind of record Daughters' s/t is, the kind you can't stop turning up… The kind that satisfies every cultural/musical requisite a critical listener possesses while simultaneously reinventing the wheel… The kind that's so immediately gratifying that you don't even bother to compare your instincts with what today's internet has to say… The kind you won't have to remove from your automobile's CD player for months on end…
None of that, “this band is my fine art project, musicianship is secondary because I am an artist foremost” garbage included… This is what the dudes in Daughters do and that fact has never been more apparent than in this record... Because, this time around, they absolutely nailed it! S/t is a ten.
“ S E L L I N G P O I N T S ”- Daughters’ s/t is their second release on Hydra Head after 2006’s Hell Songs. 2 brand new EPs are also currently in the works. The lead off single from s/t, entitled “The First Supper”, will also see a limited 45 release, with the LP version of the album being available from Hydra Head in February.
- Daughters has toured with The Blood Brothers, The Locust, Russian Circles, Pelican, Red Sparowes, Cattle Decapitation, Some Girls, Melt Banana, Doomriders, Nachtmys-tium, among many others. 2010 tour plans are already in motion.
- With this release being Daughters third full length, the musical progress is astounding. People were pissed when Hell Songs’ 10 tracks broke the 20 minutes, now they are going to have to deal with this 8 song opus nearly reaching the 30 minute mark. Impossible to place into any one genre, Daughters have paved quite the career trajectory.
