On the precipice of America’s entrance into WWII, malnutrition and vitamin defi ciencies threatened to undermine the nation’s defenses. The National Research Council drafted a nutritional program, calling for the “production and promotion of ‘enriched’ breads high in vitamins and minerals.” Despite war hardship, bakers gave enthusiastic approval to the plan and saw it through. At its 2011 Convention, ABA celebrates the 70th Anniversary of the Enrichment of Flour.

For more reasons why you should attend the 2011 ABA Convention, including a list of companies represented at the

2010 ABA Convention, go to the ABA Web site: www.americanbakers.org.

I have been attending ABA conventions since 1994. For me it is the participation of our vendor suppliers and our outside speaker experts that makes this event both exciting and valuable. It is always a great learning opportunity.

Rick and I have been coming to the ABA Convention since 1995. Many new contacts and fertile business conversations developed at these meetings have helped us regularly identify and develop the new technology that keeps on enriching the baking industry and addressing consumer emphasis for quality baked goods at a competitive price.
