    I. Foreword

    TheAmericanBicycleAssociationwasformedtoprovideorga-nizedracingandgivenationalprominencetothesportofBMX.UndertheABArulesofsanction,ridersmayaccumulatedistrictpointsatanyABAsanctionedtrack.Additionally,anationallevelpointsprogramisofferedforanincreasedinterestofcompeti-tion.

    EachABABMXfacilityisaseparateentitywiththecommongoalofprovidingcompetitiveyetsafeandfunBMXracing.ThestaffofeachtrackiscommittedtooperatingunderABAguide-linestoensurethosegoals.Itis,however,theridersandhis/herparentsresponsibilitytounderstandandfollowracingregula-tions.

    Withtheseidealsinmind,theonlyrequirementsneededtoexcelareskillanddetermination.

    II. ABA Membership

    1. EveryriderpracticingorcompetingonanyABAsanctioned trackmustobtainanABAmembership(ABALicense)prior

    toridingonthetrack.Membershipscanbepurchasedatthetrack.Therearefourtypesofmembershipsavailable,whichareasfollows:

    a. One-day free membership - Forthenewridertohaveachancetoexperiencethesportpriortojoiningwithoneofthemembershipsbelow.Thismembership

    isforonepracticeoroneraceonlyandisnottransferableorreusable.

    b. Temporary- Forthenewridertothesport.Validfor30daysatanyABAsanctionedtrack.Thismembershipal-

    lowsriderstoparticipateinpracticeandsingle-pointsraces.NoABApointswillbeawarded.Ifwithinthe30dayperiodtheriderwishestobecomeafull(annual)member,theymayconverttofullmembershipbysubmittingthetemporarymembershipreceiptwiththeconversionfeeof$25.00.

    c. Full (annual)-Validforone(1)fullyearatanyABAsanctionedevent.PointswillbeawardedtoallriderscompetinginanyABAsanctionedrace.Pointswillapplytoeachridershomedistrict.FullmembershipriderswillreceivetheofcialmembershipcardandasubscriptiontotheofcialABAmagazine.Anyriderwhojoinsatalocaltrackisentitledtoreceiveacurrentrulebook,and

Important:EveryriderMUSTshowproofofmembershipatracesign-up.ProofconstitutesacurrentABAlicenseorarenewalreceipt.TheABAmakeseveryattempttoissuearenewalnoticetoriderspriortotheirmembershipexpiration.Itisultimatelytheriderandparentsresponsibilitytokeepmembershipscurrent.Anypointsearnedonanexpiredlicensewillbeforfeit,asthereisnoofciallywrittengraceperiod.Memberships must be current through the end ofthe ABA point season (December 15th) to earn year-end

    rankings and awards.

    III. Amateur Classications / State Age Groups /Prociency Advancement

    ThesearethecurrentclassesofferedforamateursbytheABAforcompetitionpurposes:

    Prociency Advancement

    1. Afterattainingeight (8)classwins(ofanytypeofrace)oratotalofve (5)national,RedlineCupFinalorRaceofCham-pionswins,amaleNovicewillbeadvancedtoIntermediate,afemaleNovicewillbeadvancedtotheGirlclass.TheycannolongercompeteasaNovice.

    2. IfaNovicevoluntarilycompetesinanIntermediateorGirls

    classatanyABAracebeforereaching eight (8) Novicewins,theywillbeadvancedtothehigherclassicationandcannolongercompeteasaNovice.

    3. Uponatotaloftwenty-ve (25)classwins(anytypeofrace)oratotalofve (5)national,RedlineCupFinalorRace

    ofChampionswins,anintermediatewillbeadvancedtoExpert.

    4. It is the riders responsibility to advance in prociencywhen they reach the required number of wins for

    advancement. Riding out of class will result in the for-

    feiture of points and possible suspension. Do not waituntil you receive your new card, it will follow within a

    few weeks.5. Openandcruiserwinsdonotcountforadvancement.6. Sandbagging is prohibited.AnyNoviceorIntermediate

    riderhavingbeenjudgedtohaveintentionallyavoidedget-tingawintowardsprociencyadvancementwillbedisquali-edandmovedtolastplace.Lastplacepointswillbeissuedbuttheapplicableaward(ifany)willbeforfeited.

    Additionally,awintowardsadvancementwillbecredited.7. AtrackoperatormayrequesttheABAtoadvanceariderin

    prociencybasedonthatridersabilityand/oractions.8. TheABAreservestherighttoadvanceanyridersprocien-

    cyatitsdiscretion.9. Aridermayadvancetothenexthigherprociencyvoluntarily

    withoutacquiringthetotalamountofwinsbyracinginahigherprociceny.NoABAapprovalisrequiredforthisac-tion;therighttoreclassifyisforfeitforone(1)fullyear.

    10. AnyridercompetingwithanotherorganizationmustcompeteintheequivalentprociencyatallABAsanctionedevents.Ifaridersprociencystatuschangesinanotherorganiza-

    tion,thatridersprociencymustimmediatelybechangedtobecomparable.11. Anyriderhavingexitedthesportforaperiodoftimeand

    reapplyingformembership,willbeclassiedwiththesamenumberofwinswhentheyexited. ExceptionsareexplainedperSectionXI,Reclassication -Amateur/Pro.

    12. AnycurrentABACruiserriderholdingaNAG(#1-10),Red-lineCuporROCplate,uponenteringinto20competitionwithanewfull20license,willbeclassiedasNOLESSthananIntermediaterider.

    IV. Amateur Class Creation / Move-up Procedures

    1. Three(3)ormoreamateurridersarerequiredtoforma legal

    class.ThisappliestoallABAevents.2. AllridersmustmaintainacurrentABAlicenseinorderto

    compete.

    Procedures

    Thefollowingdescribesclassrequirementsaswellasexplainstheproceduresforcombiningclasseswhenneces-sary.

    A. Girls (Novice, Girl)

    1. All new female members have the option to be classiedas a Novice and will compete in the Novice class (male

    and female) at all ABA events. Girls will follow the

    move-up procedures as outlined in Section VII, B. Boys,

    pertaining to Novice class formation.

    2. AnyfemaleNovicethatvoluntarilycompetesinaGirlclassataNationaloranyotherracewillbeconsideredaGirlin

    prociencyandfromthatmomentonwillberequiredtoraceintheGirlsclassatallevents.

    3. Classeswillbecreatedaccordingtothefollowingprocess:

    Themove-upprocedurewillalwaysbeginwiththeclassoftheyoungestageavailable.Onceaclassisformed,theprocesspicksupthenextavailableclass(youngestagedictatingtheorder)andproceedsfromthere.

    Classcreationwillstartat5&UnderGirlslookingtoformalegalclass(denedasthreeormoreriders)

    GirlriderswillonlycheckupthroughtheGirlspectrumwithinathree-yearagebarrier.Ifariderisunabletomoveintoalegalclass,thenshewillbemovedintotheIntermediateclassofherrespectiveage(Ex:a9-year-

    oldGirlcanmoveonlyashighas12Girl). Anyriderinthe5&Underclasswillbedetermineda5yearoldregardlessofactualageandanyriderinthe28&overclasswillbedetermineda28yearoldregardlessofactualageforthepurposeofclasscreation.

    IftheoldestGirlrider(s)ofthedaycannotformalegalclass,thatoldestrider(s)maythenmovedownnomore

    than3agegroupscheckingforalegalclass.(The three-yearagebarriercannotbecompromised.)There

    canbeoccasions,whentheoldestGirlridermovesdown,anotherriderofdifferentagemayfollowthatmovedowntothenextlegalclass.

    (Ex 1:Three15Girls(alegalclass),one16Girlandone17Girl(oldestrideroftheday).The16Girlchecks17Girl,whichcontainsasinglerider,lookingforalegal

    class.Shewouldbecomea17Girlforthepurposeofclasscreation.Bothriderswouldthencheckdownto15Girlsandformaclassofveriders.)

    (Ex 2:Two13Girls,one14Girl,one15Girlandone17Girl.Thetwo13Girlswouldcheck14Girltoformalegalclass.The15Girlwouldcheck17Girlbutnolegalclassisformed.The15Girlwouldbecomea17Girlforthepurposeofclasscreationandbothwouldcheckdownamaximumof3agegroupslookingforaclass.Itwouldappearthatacombinationatthe14Girlsclassis

    legalbutasthereare13-year-oldridersintheclass,the3-yearagebarrierisviolated(1713=4).The2oldestGirlswouldberequiredtomoveintotheboysInterclassoftheirrespectiveage.The15Girlcannotmovebackonherownmerit,assheisnottheoldestriderregisteredthatday.)

    IfaGirlridercannotmoveintoalegalclass,thentheywillmoveintotheboysIntermediateclassoftheirrespectiveage.(Anyridersin28&overGirlwillmovetotheInterclassoftheirACTUALage.)

    4. Whenaclassisformed,thatclassislabeledwiththetitle

    ofthegroupinwhichitwasformed.(Ex:The13Girlclassmovesuptothe14Girlsformingalegalclass,theclasswillbelabeledas14Girls.)

    5. AllGirlsandgirlNovicesmayraceopenclassesatanylocalornationalrace.

    6. AllGirlsandfemaleNovicesmustraceintheircorrectageclass.Ridingoutofclasswillresultinaforfeitureofpointsandpossiblesuspension.

    B. Boys (Novice, Intermediate, Expert)

    1. Classeswillbecreatedaccordingtothefollowingprocess: Themove-upprocedurewillalwaysbeginwiththeyoung-

    estageandlowestprociencyavailable.Onceaclassisformed,theprocesspicksupthenextavailablegroup

    (youngestagedictatingtheorder)andproceedsfromthere.

    Classcreationwillstartat5&UnderBoy. InanefforttofacilitateNoviceclassformation,Novice

    groupsmaycheckasmanyastwo(2)Noviceagegroupsabovetheirown,inanefforttoformalegalclass(denedasthreeormoreriders)beforeattemptingtochecktheIntermediateandExpertclasses.

    Ifalegalclasscannotbeformed,theNovicewillreturntotheirrespectiveclass.(Ex 1:6Novicewillcheck7Nov-iceclasslookingtocreatealegalclass.Ifthatminimumwerenotmet,thenthe6Novicewouldcheck8Noviceclasslookingforalegalclass.)(Ex 2:Ifthereisa7Novicerideravailable,boththe6&7Noviceriderswouldcombine,checkingthe8Noviceclasslookingforalegalclass.Ifalegalclasscannotbeformed,the6&7Noviceriderswillreturntotheirrespectiveclasses.)

    ANovicesfollowingmovewillbetothenextprociency

    ofthesameage.(Ex:The6Noviceriderwillcheckthe6Intergrouplookingtoformalegalclass.)Ifnolegalclassisformed,thatriderwillremainwiththisIntergroupformoveuppurposes.

    AnIntermediateclass(inthiscasewiththeNoviceriderattached)willcheckthenextagegroupofthesamepro-ciency.(Ex:The6Intergroupchecksthe7Inter grouplookingtomakealegalclass.)Ifnolegalclassisformed,theIntergroupwillreturntoitshomegroup(6Inter).

    AnIntermediateclasssubsequentcheckistheExpertgroupofthesameage,lookingtoformalegalclassof3

    riders.(Ex:The6Intergroupwillcheckthe6Expertgroup.)Ifnolegalclassisformed,theIntergroupwillremainwiththeexpertgroupformoveuppurposes.

    AnExpertclasswillcheckthenextolderagegroupofthesameclassicationlookingtoformalegalclass.(Ex:The6Expertgroupwillcheckthe7Expertgroup.)Ifnolegalclassisformed,theExpertgroupwillreturntoitshomeagegroup(6Expert).

    Atthispoint,theExpertgroupwillmovetotheIntermedi-ategroupofthenextagelevelandremainthereformove

    uppurposes.However,anyNoviceriderattachedwillmovedowntotheNoviceclasswiththecorrespondingageofthatInterclass:(Ex:The6Expertgroupwillmovetothe7Intergroup,howeverthe6Noviceriderwillmoveintoandbecomea7Novice.)

    Theprocessstartsagainwiththeyoungestageandlow-estprociency(the7Noviceclass).

    Whenaclassisformed,theclassislabeledwiththetitleofthegroupinwhichitwasformed.Itispossiblethatnoridersbelongingtothatparticularclassareinvolved.(Ex:11Interclasscontaining2-11Novicesanda10Expert,allriderswillreceiveexpertpoints.)

    2. Iftheoldestclassofthedaydoesnotformalegalclass,itmaythencheckthroughthegroupsinreverseuntilalegalclassisfound,accordingtothefollowingprocess:

    The41&OverNovicewillcheckone(1)Noviceagegroupbelowlookingforalegalclass.(Ex:41&OverNoviceswillcheckthe36-40Noviceclasslookingforalegalclass.)Ifnolegalclassisavailable,thesubsequentcheckis41&OverIntergrouplookingtoformalegalclass.

    If41&OverInterdoesnotformalegalclass,theywillcheckthe36-40Intergrouplookingforalegalclass.Ifnolegalclassisavailable,theriderssubsequentcheckistothe41&OverExpertlookingtoforalegalclass.If

    nolegalclassisavailable,theIntergroupwillremainwiththeExpertgroupforclassbuildingpurposes. If41&OverExpertdoesnotformalegalclass,their

    rstcheckwillbetocheckdownoneagegroupinthesameprociency.Ifnolegalclassisavailable,theywillreturntothe41&OveragegroupandthenchecktheIntermediategroupforalegalclassof3ormoreriders.Ifnolegalclassisavailable,theriderwillcheckthe36-40Expertgroupandthispatternwillrepeatitselfuntilalegalclassisfound.

    3. Allridersmustrideintheircorrectclasses,noarbitraryclass

    changingisallowed.Example:noIntermediatemaymoveuptoaclassabovehisowntoavoidgettingarstorturningExpert.NoExpertmaymoveuptothenextIntermediateclassforeasiercompetition.Ridingoutofclasswillresultinaforfeitureofpointsandpossiblesuspension.

    C. Girls Cruiser

    1. Classeswillbecreatedaccordingtothefollowingprocess: Classcreationwillstartat10&underandbuildupin

    anefforttoformlegalclasses(denedasthreeormoreriders);themoveupprocesswillstopatthe26-30group.Any26-30riderswithoutalegalclasswillbeputinahold.(Classes31andaboveareconsideredtobepro-tectedfromyoungerridersmovingupwithexception*.)

    Atthispoint,startingatthe51&OverGirlCruisergroup,begincheckingridersDOWNwiththepurposeofcreat-inglegalclasses.Continuecombininggroupsworkingdownto21-25Cruiser.If younger riders remain with-out a legal class, they will move up in age to the last

    legal group that formed.

    *The exception being that any remaining cruiser rid-ers will move up into an older, protected class.

    2. Whenaclassisformed,thatclassislabeledwiththetitleofthegroupinwhichitwasformed.

    3. AGirlCruiserriderwillonlymoveintothemaleCruiserclassoftheircorrespondingageisiftherearenotenoughriderstoformalegalclasswithintheentireGirlCruiserspectrum.

    4. AllGirlCruiserridersmustcompeteintheircorrectageclass.Racingoutofclasswillresultinforfeitureofpointsandpossiblesuspension.

    D. Cruiser

    1.Classeswillbecreatedaccordingtothefollowingprocess: Classcreationwillstartat8&underandbuildupinan

    efforttoformlegalclasses(denedasthreeormoreriders);themoveupprocesswillstopatthe26-30group.Any26-30riderswithoutalegalclasswillbeputinahold.(Classes31andaboveareconsideredtobepro-tectedfromyoungerridersmovingupwithexception*.)

    Atthispoint,startingatthe61&OverCruisergroup,be-gincheckingridersDOWNwiththepurposeofcreatinglegalclasses.Continuecombininggroupsworkingdown

    to21-25Cruiser.If younger riders remain without alegal class, they will move up in age to the last legal

    group that formed.

    *The exception being that any remaining cruiser rid-ers will move up into an older, protected class.

    5. Whenaclassisformed,thatclassislabeledwiththetitleofthegroupinwhichitwasformed.

    6. AllCruiserridersmustcompeteintheircorrectageclass.Ridingoutofclasswillresultinforfeitureofpointsandpos-siblesuspension.

    7. Pro Cruisers will never be moved into amateur cruiser.

    E. Opens

    1. Opencategories(Opens)offerridersanadditionaloppor-tunitytocompeteatanyABAsanctionedevent.Opensaregenerallyofmixedagegroupingsandopentoridersofany

    age.2. OpenclassatNationalsisforExpertridersonly.3. MixedOpenatNationalsisforNovice,IntermediateandGirl

    usingpromotionalvalueandfairnessasguidelines.5. Aridermustberegisteredintheirrespective20pointclass

    inordertocompeteinOpen.

    6. TheABArecommendsthefollowingagegroupings: 6&under,7-8,9-10,11-12,13-14,15-16,17&Over.7. IfaProclassdoesnotform,aPro-Amopenclassmaybe

    created.ThisclasscanincludebothamateurandProriders.ItisrecommendedthatanamateurbeanExpertandat

    least15andoldertocompete.

    V. Pro Class

    TheABArecognizestheProClass,andwastheoriginator

    oflargepropurses.ProracingisanexcitingpartofBMX;however,itisnotforeveryoneasitisaverylargesteprequiringdedicationtosucceed.ABAPromembershipisaprivilegeandaresponsibility.ProridersareanexampleforallfutureBMXers.AsaPro,youareinthespotlight,andarolemodel.Goodsportsmanship,fairplay,cleanriding,andgoodconductareveryimportant.AllProridersareexpectedtoactaccordingly.

    A. 2011 ABA Pro Age Requirements

    AriderseligibilitytoturnProwillbedeterminedbybirthyear.Belowaretheagerequirementsforthe2010-Racingseason.

    5. Ariderdisqualiedfromaqualifyingmotowillbeputtolastinthatrespectivemoto.Thatridermaystillbeeligible,however,tocompeteinremainingqualifyingmotos,ifany,forthatparticularrace.

    6. Anyriderthathasqualiedtoamaineventwillreceivemaineventnishpointsrespectivetohis/heractualnishposition

Totalpointracesshallbescoredinthefollowingmanner:Finishpositionsshallbetalliedforeachofthreemotosawardingonepointforrst,twopointsforsecondandthreepointsforthird.(Ariderthatmissesamotoorreceivesaagrantdisqualication[foul]fromamotowillreceiveonepointmorethanthetotalnumberofridersintheclass.)Thetotalofthesethreemotoswilldetermineorderofnishwithlowestpointsgettingrstplaceandsoon.Ifatieexistsafterthethreemotos,thebestnishinthethirdmotobetweentiedparticipantswilldeterminethewinner.

    X. Rider Identication

    1. All riders must present a current and valid ABA licenseor membership receipt at all ABA tracks to participate in

    any sanctioned race, practice or other activity.

    2. Allriderswillbeissuedaneight-digitserialnumber.Thatnumbermustbeshownatregistrationandmustappearonthedaysmotosheetsornopointsmaybeissuedforthatrace.

    3. Inthecaseofnewmembers,atrackoperatorshouldwriteNFM(newfullmember)inplaceoftheserialnumberonthemotosheet.Thiswillbeuseduntiltheriderreceiveshis/herlicensefromtheABA.Foranyriderholdingtempo-rarymembershipstatus,thewordTEMPshouldbeusedinplaceoftheserialnumberonthemotosheet.

    4. Allnumberplatesshallhavelegiblenumbersatleast3inheight.Thenumbershallbeunobstructedbyotherdecalssoastobereadclearly.

    5. Allnumbersmustbeplacedonthenumberplatesothattheydonotoverlap.

    6. Thenumberplatemustbeattachedsecurelytothefrontofthebicyclehandlebars.

    7. A riders current earned or ABA issued number must ap-pear on that riders number plate during all competition.Thisidenticationcanappearinthe followingformsonly:

    XI. Apparel and Equipment (Bicycle)

    A. Apparel

    1. All riders must wear helmets with a permanent strapattached; snaps are not allowed.Helmetsmusthavesufcientpaddingandbeofgoodquality.TheABAhighlyrecommendsafull-facehelmetorahelmetthatcoverstheears.

    2. Allridersmustwearenclosedshoes,whicharesufcientto

    protecttheridersfeet.3. Itisrecommendedthatriderswearlongpants.Loosetting

    shortpantsmadeoftear-resistantmaterialarepermittedandusedincombinationwithaone-piecekneeandshinguardwitharigidsurface.Theremustbenoexposedskinabovethekneeorbelowtheshinguardextendingtoabovetheankle.Theshortpantsfabricmusthaveaminimumof3inchesofdoubledupexcessmaterial,withoutstretchingthefabric.Thisshallbemeasuredbypinchingthefabricbe-tweentheindexngerandthumb.AllcombinationsofshortswithkneeandshinguardsaresubjecttotheapprovaloftheABAand/orTrackOperator.

    4. Itisrecommendedthatriderswearlongsleevedshirts.Shortsleevedshirtsandsufcientelbowprotectionisallow-ablesubjecttotheapprovaloftheABAand/orTrackOpera-tor.

    2. Thereshallbeoneheadofcialonthetrackatalltimes.Theheadofcialsdecisionsregardingdisputesonthetrackwillbenal.

    3. Thereshallbeenoughtrackofcialssoastoconducttheraceinasafemanner.

    4. Alldisputesmustbetakentotheheadofcial.5. Thestagershallbethepersoncallingtheracerstotheir

    motos.He/shehascompletechargeofthestagingareaandstartinghill.

    XIII. Racing Rules

    1. Thetrackoperatormaymodifyaruletomeetlocaltrackconditionsbutonlytomaketheeventsafer.Anymodica-tionsmustbefairforallriders.Thesemodicationsmust

    bemadeknowntoallparticipantspriortoanyeventthroughP.A.announcementsorprintedmaterials.

    2. It is the riders responsibility to check the moto sheetsand ensure they are in the correct class. If, after racing

    has started, it is discovered that a rider is in the incor-

    rect class, the rider may be disqualied and forfeit all

    points.3. Oncearacehasbegun,meaningtherstgateoftherst

    roundofmotoshasdropped,thetrackdirectordue,toinclementweatherorotherextremecircumstances,maypostponethatrace.

    4. Motosheetsofapostponedracemay not be altered.Undernocircumstanceswillsign-upsbeaddednoranyrefundsgiven.

    5. Theuseofanydrugs,stimulantsorintoxicantsisprohibitedunlessprescribedbyalicensedphysician.

    6. NobettingorsolicitingbetsispermittedatanyABAsanc-

    9. It is the responsibility of each rider and that riders pitcrew, Ex: parents, guardian or sponsor), to be in the

    staging area when necessary and be prepared to race.10. Ridersmusttakethelaneassignedtothemineachrace.

    Anyriderthatisfoundinthewronglaneuponanotherridersprotest,priortothatmoto/maincommencing,maybedisqualiedandremovedfromthegateforthatrace.

    11. Anyriderinthegatehavingdifculties,notreadytoraceorquestioninganotherriderslanepositionorsafetyequipmentcanonlyputthatraceonholdbyplacingtheirfrontwheeloverthegate.Thisactionmusttakeplacebeforethestart-ingcadencebegins.

    12. Theonlyridersthatmaybeassistedatthestartinggatearethose5yearsoldandyounger.Thisassistanceshallonlyincludetherearwheelbeingplacedbetweentheassistantslegs.Nohandsmaybeusedtoproptheriderupandanypushingoffwillresultintheridersdisqualication.

    13. Parentsofanyrider6yearsofageandoldermayaccom-panytheirriderthroughthestagingarea.However,theseparentsareNOTALLOWEDtoassisttheirrideratoronthestartinggate.

    14. Allridersmusthavetheirwheelagainstthegatewhenthestarterbeginsthestartingcadence.

    15. Ariderswheelmaynotbreaktheplaneofthegateuntilthegateisreleased.Doingsowillconstituteagatejumpandthatridermaybedisqualiedfromthatmotoormain.

    16. Amotoormainmaynotbererunifuponreleaseofthegate,ariderisnotfullypreparedtorace.

    17. Ariderdeterminedbyanofcialtohaveintentionallyimped-ed(blocked)theprogressofanotherriderduringtherst30feetoftheracemaybedisqualied.Tofacilitatethisrule,itisrecommendedthataclearlyvisiblelineextendacrossthewidthofthetrack,placedatapoint30feetfromthestartinggate(Moving over is not a foul in of itself. Intentionallymovingoverandimpedinganotherrideristhefoul).

    18. Three riders falling down before the crest of the rstobstacle will constitute a restart. The crest shall be

    dened as the top of the front most part of any jump .

    26. Whenonthenalstraight,ariderdeterminedbyanofcial

    Exceptiftheinfractiontookplaceonthenalstraightbe-tweenthelastobstacleandthenishline.Thatriderwouldthenbeawardedtheplacementtheywereinbeforetheinfraction.

    28. A rider must nish any individual moto or main on thesame bicycle that he/she started on.

    29. Aridermaypushorpullhisbicycleacrossthenishlinetobescored.Thatridermustbeincontactwiththeirbicycleinordertobescored.

    30. Anyriderwhosebicyclebecomesentangledwithanotherbicyclemustseparatethebicyclesbeforecontinuingthe

    XIV. Rules of Conduct

    EveryridermustatalltimesobservesuchconductasreectstheidealsofgoodsportsmanshipandavoidanyconductwhichmaybringhimselforthesportofBMXintodisrepute.

    1. Theuseofradioassistanceforanyrideronthetrackisstrictlyprohibited.

    2. Aridermaybedisqualiedorsuspendedforhis/heractionsortheactionsofhis/herparent(s),oraccompanyingparty.

    3. Aparent/guardianoraccompanyingpartymayhavetheireventattendanceprivilegerevokedfortheirownactionsoractionsoftheirrider(s).

    4. Aridermaybedisqualiedforteamridinglettinganotherriderofsameteamorotherafliationpasssoastoaffecttheoveralloutcomeofanyrace.

    5. Aridermaybedisqualiedifanyparent,teammember,pitcreworotherassiststhatriderinanysituationonthetrackduringanyqualierormain.

    6. Aridermaybesuspendeduptooneyearfordamaging,stealingordestroyingpublicorprivateproperty.(Parents,itisyourresponsibilitytocontrolaminorsactions.)

    7. Ariderfoundintentionallymisrepresentinghis/heragemaybesuspendedforuptoonefullyear.

    8. Aridercompetinginplaceofanotherridershallreceiveaone-yearsuspensionalongwiththeriderhe/shehasreplaced.

    10. Aridermisrepresentinghis/herpresenceatanyrace(ghostrider)willnotbescoredforthateventandmayfacesus-

    11. Ariderparticipatinginaghostridingsituationmaybesuspended.

    12. Ariderknowinglyracingoutofclassshallreceivenolessthana3-monthsuspension.

    XV. The ABA Transfer System

    TheABArecommendstheuseofthetransfersystemforqualifyingridersfromheatraces(motos)tomainevents.Thissystemisnotmandatoryexceptformulti-pointevents.Atrackoperatormayuseanysystemthattsthetrackslocality.Whenthetransfersystemistobeutilized,thattrackoperatormustsubmittotheABAadetaileddescriptionofthealternatesystem.ThatalternatesystemmaybeinitiateduponapprovalbytheABACompetitionCommittee.

    Thetransfersystemproceedsasfollows:

    1. Ariderwilltransfer(qualify)outofhis/herrespectivemotobyattaininganappropriatenish.Qualifyingnishspotswillbepredeterminedonthemotosheet.

    2. Once a rider qualies for a semi or a main event, he willnot race again until that time. Doing so may result in

    disqualication.

    3. Onlyaclassofnineridersshallhaveitsnalroundofquali-fyingmotoscombined.

    4. Trackoperatorshavetheoptionofrunningeithera2-motoor3-mototransfersystemattheirdiscretion.

    5. AtallNational,RedlineCupFinal&RaceofChampionevents,theABAwilllimitqualifyingtoatotalof2rounds.

    6. TheABAGrandNationalswilloperateunderthe3-moto-transfersystem.

    Thetransfersystemisauniquewayofqualifyingridersfromthemotostothemaineventsateachrace.Thissystemisthefairesttotheriderandtheeasiestfortheparentorspectatortounderstand.Itinvolvesasetofmotosbeing

    runapredeterminednumberoftimes(2or3)toqualifyrid-erstoquarter-mains,semi-mainsordirectlytomaineventsdependingonthenumberofriderscompeting.
